Title: Plumbago
Post by: kayelondon on March 12, 2011, 11:51:02
HI, I am interested in putting in a plumbago to climb up my back fence but I only get some morning and then late afternoon sun.  Does anyone have one or know if it will still flower in a garden without all day sun?

I also would be interested in putting in a climbing plant for the top tier of my garden to use as ground cover - I would like some colour, ever green to stop weeds and create interest - it is an area which isn't used...  Any ideas?

Plumbago needs a lot of sun to flower. The cold winter has done mine in :( Try bugle for ground cover, not a climber but it spreads everywhere.

I'm in North Lincs and my plumbago stays in the conservatory. Actually this Feb. it spent some very cold days wrapped on the patio [ tho' bought in at night] while the conservatory was decorated. It has been re-potted and looks bleak although new buds are acoming. I wouldn't think being outside all year was  an option- unless you live in the Scillies of course. :-\
