I sowed some Bunyards Exhibition in toilet roll tubes 3 weeks ago but none have yet germinated. Though they are in a unheated greenhouse surely I should be seeing some poking through now ??? ???
well...it has been bit chilly..so they are not that late to come through..but you could have little peek...just to see what is happening. If you carefully scratch some soil off from surface with stick or something until you see the seed that will hopefully still be there :-X..has there been any disturbance around..no mice?
Mine took about 4 weeks to stick their heads up in an unheated plastic greenhouse thingy me bob. I put some more in 2 weeks ago and they've just started showing signs of life as well.
Wait a little while, nature never rushes so neither should we :-)
It's been a bit cold.... I suggest next time start them off indoors then harden them off as soon as they start to show....
I started some about the same time and they are just showing through... also in a cold greenhouse.. :-X

Ditto!
Better get mine started!

Mine have been in over a month now, and haven't shown above the pots. Roots are sticking out of the bottoms, though, so I know they're OK.
Darn it, got to buy more. The two lots started last year succumbed to the bad winter and the last lot I put in haven't shown a hair.
When did they go in? It might be worth having a firkle.
OH has been using the Jeremy Vine's allotment-blokes method of germinating broad/runner/climbing french beans.
He puts the seed in a polythene bag with some damp compost. You can see when the seeds are germinating. Then he pots them up into toilet rolls.
We have had very good crops since using this method.

Finally. Some have just started poking through yesterday. :)
This thread reminds me that I need to do my broad beans soon.....maybe tomorrow or Sunday.
Will be setting in individual pots and then transplanting....lost too many to mice when I planted direct last time!

This seems a good idea for me. I have some old packets of seeds which I would like to use so I am going to try this method.
