Title: cutting plastic tub
Post by: tomatoada on March 08, 2011, 09:54:05
I have a blue water tub which  has a hole in it.   I would like to cut it down to 2/3rds its depth.  Probably to grow carrots.   I have tried a saw but it just shatters.   Has anyone any ideas how to do it?   Thanks.

try a jigsaw with a metal cutting blade in it.

If it is very old and been in the sun, the plastic may have perished and so it's brittle.

You can saw up new blue barrels without problems though it's hard work with just a wood saw.

Thanks for the replies.  You are right it is old, and is shattering.  So a trip to the tip.   I will remember the jigsaw tip.
