Hi, have sown some basil and parsley in pots and has just started coming through but now bit worried i have sown too close together. I kinda did it without thinking and just scattered over the surface thinking it wouldnt matter. Now they are coming up they are pretty close and quite a few of them. Should i just let them grow or start some more??
Thanks
Joe
I normally sow a few seeds in each pot anyway so I would transplant them that way . A few to each pot
You could prick some seedlings out to grow on in their own little pots..but it might be easiest with coriander and basil if you just plant the whole lot into larger container, grow on and start using..then do another sowing with little less on.
Parsley..well that would be good for transplanting as one or two seedlings per 3inch pot..few weeks time they can be planted outside then...about 10-12 or so inches apart..
Ok thankyou :) at the min LOADS of tiny plants are there so not great but will know better next time. Really dont know what i was thinking!
So plan for now is let them get a tiny big bigger so easier to handle then pick em out and repot in 3 inch pots, most likelu loose a few but not a total disaster.
Thanks for your help
I have never done herbs but sowed seed this weekend. I did a liberal broadcast sow - a full pack of basil between two 3" pots, same with parsley. DO i just cut off the excess growth or is there a lot of transplanting ahead. ???
sounds like you have some transplanting work KT !
I do a small pinch of seed per 3" pot, worked for basil, coriander, parsley and dill so far ;D
