Title: Jeannine's parcel tomato seeds question..
Post by: goodlife on February 25, 2011, 10:33:35
there was one variety of tomato seeds that I've been meant to ask from those of you who took part last year..
One of my tomato seeds packets I wrote name down as Invicta..have I made mistake?..aren't they swede variety or something?..or is there really tomatoes that are calles such? I don't seem to find nothing on net. ???
Help!..or maybe you recognize it being something else but I've just scribled it down bit differently.. ::)
But looking at the seeds,,,yes they are definately tomato seeds.
I would be nice to know what those are...

If it came from me  it would have been Invictus not Invicta.

If so, it is a deep red ,smooth, round. It is a determinate and is early. Fruit is 180 grams. Polish.

Hi it was one that someone brought me from Poland, all in Polish of course, but I managed to get on the seedsellers site in Poland and google translated for me.

I got the info i needed but have never grown them yet.

I got the definate impression it was a commercailly used one as the packet seeds were huge and the site offered all kinds of veggies to farmers but only anout 5 tomatoes..this was one of them.

So good luck.. I expected it to be a greenhouse type  and was expecting a heavy yeild if my guesses were correct.

Let us know if you grow them..prett sure they were a hybrid.

I came across this site, I think Turkish, they list 'Invictus lot 335' http://www.safatarim.com/en/products/seed/allseeds.asp I wondered if this is the same tomato as it is described as "Medium early determinate tomatoes. Round shape fruits are about 160-200 gr weight, bright red with medium thick walls and suitable for transportation"

Yes!..I came across that site too...and thought it might the one.
Well time will tell..but it sort of makes growing more interesting if you have some info to compare it to..if you know what I mean..
When I was googling tomato & invicta...absolutely nothing came up of sort until Jeannine corrected it to invictus.. I was almost ready to 'write' the packet 'off' :-X
