Title: When to sow True Potato Seed?
Post by: chriscross1966 on February 23, 2011, 09:32:22
Having obtained some TPS I'm wondering if anyone's done any research on when to plant them.... I'm about to put my tomatoes in and they're like tomatoes so I'm guessing now....ish...

About 6-8 weeks before your last frost date. I'm going to sow mine in the next few weeks. I started another thread somewhere, I'll go and have a look for it.

I have been growing potatoes from true seed (TPS) for 58 years.  With lots of private breeding work I have thousands of lines that produce all kinds of colors and flavors from the tiny seed that is found in the berries.

Oops missed this,
Hi Tom and welcome to A4A and this side of the pond  ;D

I took the plunge with TPS last year and had a ball, I'm definitely well and truly hooked. So thank you for the inspiration to get started. I've just sown some seed I saved last year and some kindly sent by other forum members here, I also have some of your stunning varieties. So all in all an exciting season, I hope  ;D
