Well, someone on here said Lidl had seed strips, so rushed off to Lidl and looked and looked but it was only lettuce and other stuff I didn't really want, so had a couple of quid in my purse, so went to the 99p shop. Nearly bought a rambling rose, and looked at all the lovely tubs with vegs/flowers on them and a small packet of seeds and soil, and thought I could buy a whole bag of compost and have packets of seeds at home, so went to lovely Morrisons to buy dinner, and had to have a look at the plants and seeds, and of course the gardening section is now there, but I think I am cured because I just went home with dinner (and a reduced bottle of wine, of course, and cat food), so I AM CURED. Might try the toilet paper and seeds to make strips as I always plant too close together, do you think honey would be OK to stick the seeds onto the toilet paper. No more shopping until pay day, end of the month, then maybe, a few more packets of seeds.
I am not sure it is that easy. ;D
Oh Borlotti, don't worry, you're probably just having a bad day ;D ;D ;D ;D. Don't forget there is no cure just recovering & you can easily have a relapse ;).
If there is a cure please send it on I bet most of us have doubles in our boxes I dont swap anymore I give them away and the Grandchildren come through the door every weekend look Grampy more seeds Iwill have to stop there pocket money Bless Them
I, too thought I was cured then found a discount waehouse, JTF in warrington..8 packs of seeds for £1.00 :o
so, bought a blue and white agapanthus and 8 packs of seed (dated 2012, fothergills) so my addiction continues ;D
I just wonder if my free train/bus pass will take me to Warrington, 8 packets for £1.00. Sounds good to me, perhaps I am not completly cured. P.S. Where is Warrington???
between liverpool and manchester, Barotti, my mate got 3 lots of 8 :o
they had 4 tier mini greenhouses for 9.99, mind you, you do have to add vat so the seeds were actually 1.20, sorry ;D
It's only in remission... there is no cure... ::)
Just give in to it. Lifes to short ;D
Mal I've just had a look. Is it as good as it looks. Lots there we could make use of.
It's now bookmarked. They are all over the place.
Off to Warrington Friday!!
X Chas
yes, janet, just as good as it looks, you need i.d to become a member, Ray forgot and i only had his prescription form ;D
enjoy yourselves, guys, don't spend too much, haha ;D
Just semi retired, bored stiff due to rain and unable to do anything on lottie so I waill just HAVE to mosey down to Wyevales to only look....
Oh Lord, I was in Lidl - and they had the seeds out! And I rummaged through - oh need some marigolds, oh and some nasturtiums. Hmm maybe I could try some more basil this year. Ah they have climbing beans - I could try those... And mixed flowers! A patch between the carrots and beets or next to the beans might look sweet and attract insect.
I ended up with at least 7 packets, 29c each...
And I had already bought my seeds over the Internet!
But now I really must control myself until next year.
Hmmm - they have a store in Nottingham and a day pass and voucher for March! But can I hold out that long?

membership is free at the moment here, if it is in nottingham, you could just go for a look ;D
Must let Goodlife know ;D ;D ;D.
OH is going for a blood test tomorrow so if I can get up early enough we are going after the BT. Wonder if I can get up in time ;).
It's a fasting test so that's breakfast out to ;D ;D ;D.
Look what you've started Mal. Thank you :).
As addictions go, I think seed addiction is pretty harmless...........anyway, thats the view I am going to stick with ;)
All you need is somewhere to store all those empty sweet tins full of seeds, a bit of compost, a few flowerpots, a watering can, wellington boots, spade, fork and trowel, gardening gloves, netting, fleece, bamboo canes etc, etc ,etc........................nothing wrong with that!
Actually, I rather like this addiction ;D
I only bought 4 packets of seeds, Morrison's own brand, for £2. Just think of all the money I will save on cut flowers, having sweet peas, stock and cosmos. Well the Fothergill seeds were much nearer and my food shopping came to over £30, so £2 isn't that bad, is it???? Have saved my own seed for sweet peas and they are coming up well in the protected front garden in a pot, but we will see which ones do better, can't live without sweet peas. Only lasted one day and am back again. Too wet here to do much digging at the lovely allotment, withdrawal symptoms today.
I've got confession to make....
My name is 'goodlife' and I'm seedaholic...and I'm PROUD OF IT ;D...and I never want cure..just ability to adjust my shopping urges ;D :-X
I haven't lost all my hope as yet..though I keep browsing seed sites..umm..daily..I can go by day or two not getting any ;D
Winters and rainy days are the worst moments of weakness.
Roll on proper weather and I'm too busy to start actually using my 'stash'.
I'm of the opinion that you can never have too many seeds :D
Alison
Ohh..that's dangerous..I thought that too..but what I've heard from some members having several suitcases full of seeds and trowing on top of thathand bag and two too...it start sounding like 'too many' to me ::) ;D
Mind though...isn't it nice to 'flick' through packets..dive you hands deep into secrects of your seedbox and caress all those beautiful beans ;D ;D ;D
Have just been on JTF 's website and downloaded a voucher.
Can't wait till Friday
X Chas
Beat you to. We're going tomorrow, I think the voucher is for March Chas.
they didn't have any small trugs in on tuesday but are getting some more in so we'll be off again next week :)
just got a mag with MORE tomato seeds, need them like a hole in the head ;D
Holes in the head are very useful...
hearing, smell, taste...
;D
Report on my trip to Hucknall JFT:
- store is difficult to find and it certainly is no frills.
- Lots of poundland type gardening stuff
- but a nice plastic walk in greenhouse for about £37 + VAT
- and Jonagold apple trees for £3.99
- 100 litres of peat for 3.99, 15kg of chicken manure pellets 4.99 (which I bought)
- all prices ex VAT so 20% added at the till
- good offers sold out (eg Ryobi cordless drill for £20, but just a few empty boxes visible).
- not many different seeds, but sweetcorn varieties looked good.
Summary: Interesting place to visit but shockingly bottom end, lots of rubbish made in China dumped in a derelict warehouse, but a few things which would be hard to find anywhere else.
No. you are not cured, just a remission, sorry to have to say this but after a couple of these, the addiction increases ten fold.
