Title: Feeding Foxes
Post by: markyb23 on January 14, 2005, 20:49:17
Hello everyone,
If anyone could offer me any advice on feeding foxes I would be very grateful.
We see foxes quite often, where I live, but,as all the houses now have the large wheelie bins, there probably Isn't so much waste food lying around for them to scavenge.
Is it a good idea to put food out for the foxes?,and,if so,what would be ok to put out?
I was thinking of putting out left over meat, such as chicken carcasses or lamb bones.
  Any advice would be welcome.
       All The Best-Marky.

Hi Marky
Most wildlife people will tell you it isn't a good idea to feed foxes. Knowing that my elderly neighbours are feeding one of our local foxes I checked with the people who make the Wildlife hospital programme and they said its a no no.
We have a thriving fox community around here and wheelie bins so they are managing ok  ;)

With foxes you love them or hate them just one of those things.
chicken carcasses I always think are dangerous the cooked bones will splinter and cause an animal distress.

Dog food is fine for them tripe base not rich dont want to have a fox with the runs also a bowl of fresh water.

The same feeding program as for hedgehogs. And a little is better than a lot. One way of watching a beautiful animal.
