Hi, New to the site but hope to become a regular member over next few weeks.
I'm an architecture student and also own an allotment in Oxford which has inspired me for my current project at university.
I've been concentrating my final year thesis on the British Allotment, with the aim at addressing the high demand on allotments. As part of this I have prepared a questionnaire to try and gather some first hand evidence. I have been distributing this through my own allotment committee newsletters and through contacting other committees. I'm trying to get as wider range of results as possible so need to get as many people to fill in the questionnaire as possible.
There are 3 questionnaires, 1 for people with allotments, 1 for people on waiting lists and the last for people without.
The links to each questionnaire are below:
Questionnaire for people who currently own an allotment:

Questionnaire for people currently on an allotment waiting lists:

Questionnaire for people who don't own an allotment:

It would be of massive help if as many of you as possible can fill in the appropriable questionnaire, they should take no longer than 1 or 2 minutes to fill in.
The one I'm struggling to get filled in is the one for people on waiting lists, if anybody is in this situation or knows people that are and may fill it in for me it would be great if you could let them know
I hope this is OK to post on here but if anybody has any questions them please let me know
Thanks
Simon
Welcome to A4A Simon... have filled it in as a plot holder..
Welcome Simon. I've completed one as an allotment holder as well
Thanks guys. Much appreciated ;D
I've completed your survey as a non-allotment holder.
Good luck with your studies! :)
I am interested in your studies of architecture. I rather feel that the currently design of housing is not very friendly to growing. I would like a greenhouse in the roof space, much more use of rain water etc. The design of the house could be much more friendly to growing things easily. My first home the garden was very small and I always thought that the garage roof was a terrible waste of space.
Completed one as a plotholder.
Completed as plot holder and welcome
welcome to a4a
filled in questionnaire as a plot-holder
Completed as a plot holder- good luck!

Hope you're going to let us read your thesis some day.
I've also done it, as a plotholder.
Yep..done as plot holder too..
I would like to know about your 'results' too ;)

completed as plot holder
Hi Simon - questionnaire completed.
I'd be interested to see the results.
Alison
Done - it makes you appreciate what we have- I wish the people who don't look after their plots properly or the "just enough" gardeners could see it. But that's my favorite soap box topic! :-X
Completed as an ex allotment holder. ;D
All done. It really makes you cross when you see the unloved allotments.
Hope your study goes well. Ripley ;D
Another lottie holder signed Simon, a lot on peeps on here are interested in the results because we've had a few come on here with their Questionnaires and never comeback with any results, you sound like the real deal though, and if not I know a couple of rough and ready Brummie chicks that will come round and pay you a visit, all the best with your thesis. ;)
Welcome Simon. And filled in as a allotment holder
I have completed this. I have lost count of how many surveys and questionnaires I have completed via this forum to support research and dissertations. I am still waiting for a thank you or access to the final results.
I wait in anticipation............
Thank you! My diploma is riding on it so hopefully results will be worthwhile. The brummie threat, it depends if they are blues or villa to whether im scared or not :P
Q filled in. Same comments as the other members of this forum.
Also filled in as an allotment owner. Wasn't sure about a couple of the questions as I've only had it a few months (ie. not over the growing season).
Looking forward to seeing the results!
Schmelda - that's no problem, its great to get a good range.
Thanks again guys
Done it, though I think a comments section at the end would have been useful. My plot isn't standard - double size with hedges - and I'd have been interested in more than one plot on a standard site.
Done
Thanks again guys. Robert, good point, I tried to allow for comments at the end of appropriate questions but maybe a general comments box at the end would have been a good idea. Please feel welcome to either email me any extra comments or leave them here. Thanks
