Well im not sure which section to put this post,if im wrong please move or delete.Went to my local super market yesterday for some spuds for tea(cold meat and chips)now the regular spuds i use are wilja but been having probs with realy small potatoes and seeing as i am the mug that peels and chips the potatoes i wasnt going to get little spuds,so i see a bag of decent sized spuds that i have never used before(harmony) i buy a bag,peels and chips 1st thoughts nice clean potatoe with a thin skin portion for me( deep fat fryer)
portion for HER, tefal actifry.Both lots of chips cooked and i pinch 1 of HERS,yuck bloody sweetand soggy,then i try 1 of the deep fried,yuck,same again very sweet and soggy.Today peel same variety of spuds for mash,jeeze what a let down if i was blindfolded i wouldnt have said i was eating potato, just like tasteless sludge.Added a good k nob off butter no improvement,next i added a t spoon of wholegrain mustard,could taste the mustard but not the potatato.What a let down no more harmony for me

I have also brought some Harmony potatoes. Not too keen on them either. When mashed, i had to cover them in gravy or tomato ketchup to give them any flavour. Last year i brought a variety called Estima from the supermarket for general cooking purposes. I was so impressed with the flavour a went back and brought two more bags to set on my plot. I know its not the best thing to do because of disease but they grew very well. Some of the potatoes had a bit of scab on them but nothing a potato peeler could not cope with. I will be on the look out for some more this year.
