a very nice melon just not for eating. the fragrance is nice.

I was taught how to sniff melons in California many many years ago.  I always smell them in the shop you can tell if they are nice and ripe and ready to eat.  It is much better smelling them rather than pressing them like some people do.  They do not get damaged.
