OK for fear of getting put on the naughty seat with Cornykev I really cant say what I feel here.
Some grotbag yob new plotholders from our site have wrecked my compost heap (dismantled it and that wont have been a mean feat) and taken all of my pallets saved for raised beds/bed edges and burned them.
OK I know who it was because they were seen by another plotholder and they were stupid enough to burn them on their own plot , which means I can go to the council and complain and get something done about it. I took lots of photos on my phone so i am at present trying to upload them.
Im just so cross as ive spent the afternoon clearling up my plot, removing saws they had scattered around and lighters and glass. I am just so glad the weather hadnt been so nice yesterday as I had planned to take my twin 3 year olds down to the plot. :o
So much for my quiet afternoon of digging.
all I can say is Grrrrrrrrrrr (feel free to replace this with any appropriate ex[pletive you think I would have said) :)
Sorry to hear that... hope you get some justice.. >:(
why pick on you?
have you upset them in som way
Nope I was just the next door plot with wood on it for the huge bonfire they built.
They only took on the plot this month.
Cant say too much here about the plot holder till ive spoken to the council but lets say they arent that old.
Blimey that is completely out of order. Some people just dont get it do they - it's just common decency.
On our (self managed) site this would mean immediate eviction - we are not allowed on each other plots at all. What do your rules say?
I hope you get this sorted - Im sure your plot is a little haven away from the worries of the world and things like this can be really upsetting - best of British to you!
So sorry that you have had this to put up with. Sometimes I wonder why these folks do such things.
The sound stupid enough to have thought that their plot included yours
That is outrageous behaviour! I can only hope you manage to sort something out with the council / society. Eviction is the only answer but it doesn't help in terms of what was stolen and damaged!
1066 :)
Sorry to hear about that, I hope you manage to get it sorted out.
What everyone else said, it's outrageous. Trespass and theft. It must be sufficient for eviction or a warning letter at the very least.
Perhaps your new friend Bill can get on to them?
well ive emailed the council and sent the pics I took, will call them in the morning as the head honcho was in a meeting this afternoon.
I also called our new site rep who hadnt realised what had gone on but had noticed the pile of ashes that was up by the rubbish pile and had thought that someone was being stupid chucking that away.
i would imagine that it will be immediate eviction, we will see
Denbyvisitor yes can always call Billl and let him know, but I will see what the council say tomorrrow.
im hacked off by the fact that my compost heap has been destroyed and ive now got more work to do, stuff can be replaced but thats beside the point.
I can laugh now at the fact that they raked over the bed that i'd just dug, I assume because it was full of footprints, and I count myself lucky that although they trampled the rhubarb bed they didnt actually tread on it. I'd only just planted it.
cripes so sorry to hear!!! I hope this is simply down to naivety on their part,or am i being too soft in the head...we had a new plotholder who took tons of stuff from my plot as she thought it was communal, inexplicably,I had to make the horrid call to her to put her right, she was horrified and so embaressed and `im happy to say is now one of our most valued plotholders.I hope this is the case here and this gets sorted

No the age of the plot holder may well have alot to do with it.
the top half of the plot has been taken on by a 16 year old. apparently this is all above board and legal and he has done well so far and has big ambition to have a plot that will go into our Bexley in Blooom competition.
The bottom half the plot (the one causing eme trouble) has apparently been taken on by the 16 year olds mates mum. I am told by my site rep that this has been done as a way round the mate only being 15 being able to have a plot. Ive not been able to confirm this yet so it is only hearsay until confirmed by the council or not as the case maybe, but perhaps woud explain the lack of respect for another plot.
Before Bill jumps down my neck this is only what ive heard
Ah youngsters. ::) ::) ::)

I don't always think it's down to age.We have a plotholder who dumps rubbish where he likes and helps himself to whatever he likes. Thus far he gets away with it and he's 70 +
Sorry for your troubles
brownowl123 I hope you get something done about it :)
I agree older folk can be as much of a pain as younger ones.
As I say the 16 year old has done well so far and has all good intentions, he only took the plot on late last year so only has areas dug, so time will tell how he does with cultivation. He has been taken under the wing of the older plotholders and has impressed them with his enthusiasm. Ive met him and he seems a nice enough lad.
The 15 year old I havent met yet, so know only know he is working hte bottom plot. looking at his plot yesterday he's dug a bit but not very well and he has massacred the little plum tree that was on his plot
well ive got a meeting with the head honcho of the allotment department at the council on my plot at 1pm this afternoon.
Lets she was she has to say. Wisj me luck :-\
Sounds like the 15 year old is only there because of his mate, and he is not really interested in having a plot.
Hopefully that will make it easy to get rid of him, good luck with your meeting.

Here's wisjing you luck!!
all that is being done is a letter to all plot holders on site reminding them they arent allowed on each others plot and they certainly arent allowed to take stuff from other peoples plots.
This is because no-one has caugt him in the act and made a statement.
That was like red rag to a bull for me being an ex surveillance officer, but I know my other half wouldnt want me to do a stake out certainly not on my own.
So I guess we hope that a letter gets to his mum before he does it again, and that she reads it to him.
^^ that is a bit disappointing. You've got to have a talk with him and his Mom. If you get a load of language back at least you will know how the land lies. It would be nice if Bill or some other Veteran was with you to referee :) and if all else fails be a witness. I would not rely on the letter having any effect. Sounds like a cop out from the council to me. What was a 15 year old doing having a bonfire on an allotment site anyway?
I think you will have to point out how upset you were. Perhaps he thought that the compost bin was just rubbish. I think I would start by assuming there has been something of a misunderstanding.
I suggest some kind of visible demarcation such as a piece of coloured rope, you can normally get it in one of the cheapo shops in blue or pink, then maybe a notice which says please keep off my plot.
Whats a 15 year old doing having an allotment. Breaches our rules actually as it states that plot holders arent allowed to let under 16's be on the plot alone.
I have sent Bill a message through here and hopefully he may well be able to lend a hand and I think I may at least go down to plot tomorrow night even if I just stay the rec side of the gate with a camera ;)
As you say a roped off area with a keep of my plot notice may well help.
I am all for teenagers doing a bit of work on a allotment along side a adult to learn. But this young man must have been told the bounderes of his plot, and only work and touch within this space. It is easy sitting here writing this as its ,not happend to me But can you not get them to repair everything that they have broken , and put right everything to your satisfaction. Just maybe there is a good lad in there that is willing to learn, and share. But you should also find out from your local council how this was all allowed to happen it must have been a great upset for all on your site. As for marking your area with a rope NO they have had there warning you should not have to tell anyone twice
Rugby post - im all for kids learning how to grow veggies too, in fact I was going to build a kid level bed for the boys to grow some veg in from the pallets. they will have to sit on the ground now to plant.
Got the councils eletter today that was promised so I hope that it got read before they went down to plot tonight. It was better worded than expected and asked for anone to come forward who knew anything too and threatened police action and immediate eviction for the culprits if caught. So quite pleased with that.
the investigator in me went down to plot about 7.30 last night to see if there was any activity, there wasnt and no-one had appeared to have been there, but by god was it dark, it really gave me the heebie geebies.
I have contacted Bill and we are going to meet up too. poor bloke he meeting me with the nippers in tow, so I hope they are on good behavior.
