I'm determined to be organic and companion planting seems to be a good way to aid the veggies. I ordered a companion planting collection which has basil, chives, coriander, dill, thyme, nasturtium jewel mixed, poached egg plant, sunflowers and tagetes lemon gem. I am now planning out my plot (yes I know, it's a bit late but what can you do?). Should I be mixing these seeds between and around the courgettes, spuds, lettuce, rocket and broad beans?
I know there are some plants which clash and others which complement each other, but there's so many combinations. Any advice gratefully received :)
I read that broad beans go well with garlic. We planted some broad beans and garlic in the same bed in November 2002 and both have done really well. Because they are the same family, I tried broad beans with onions and witrh shallots - disaster. They do not like each other at all. 90% of the broad beans and ALL of the shallots just gave up.
