I know there are a few swaps on the go at the moment but I thought I'd offer a few Heritage/open pollinated seeds to those who perhaps have never tried growing them and don't have heritage seeds available to swap. I'd most like these go to growers interested in heritage varieties, who are up for having a go at saving seed.
These aren't big packs of seeds; they are more like little samplers for you to grow with just enough seed to produce a small crop for you to taste. If you like them, then you save some seed for the following year to grow, share, or perhaps swap for other Heritage varieties.
Each selection contain; a Tall Mange tout, Climbing Pea, Climbing Bean and a Dwarf Bean)
1 Golden Sweet, Stephen's, Bridgewater, Mr Brook's Blue
2 Winterkefe, Clarkes Betony Blue, District Nurse, Purple Queen
3 Golden Sweet, Irish Preans, Pea bean, Brighstone.
4 Bijou, Purple Podded, Carol Leenstra's, Afia.
5 Carouby De Maussane, Simpson Special, Romano, 6 Nations.
If you fancy growing one of the above selections, you will need to send me a strong, preferably padded envelope with your address on it and a large letter stamp. Put the number of your selection and your user name on the envelope as well please, so I don't get in a knot!
Oh yes; you will already need to be a contributing member of the forum (before I post this), you can be new as long as you have been joining in ;D
i would like try them, im new on here, so what do i have to do? :D
Welcome to A4A salvation plot, thanks for your interest, but on this occasion I'll decline your request as I've made this offer open to existing and contributing members of the forum.
I'm sure there will be other offers and perhaps you could try and introduce yourself first and get to know people and the forum a bit before making two opening requests for items in the swap section.
I've only got one lot reserved so far for Dandytown.
So plenty spare, I'm hoping a few more people will be interested in growing some of these peas and beans :)
Thank you for your kind offer, I would love some please Jayb, will look them up so I know what's what. I'll PM you when I have checked them out.
Thank you for your kind offer. I would love some of these and will PM you,
I am lucky to have all i need this year, but i have to say Emma, what a lovely idea putting them together as a collection ;D ;D ;D
Kx
Thank you for your kind offer. I would love some of these and will pm you. Many thanks for such a kindness to others.
Thank you for the kind words, I adore growing and eating beans and peas, I particularly like growing heritage varieties. It seems to make sense to share and pass them on to others to enjoy :)
hi,
would i please be able try some?,i tried beans for the first time last year and to be honest the flowers on them were amazing.i only have a small garden so i have to interplant in my borders,so worth the effort.and my little girl just loves picking anything thats ready.
Hi jayb,
did you get my PM with the offer of beans from my list (the only thing I'm looking for bean-wise this year is Canadian WOnder adn a climbing pinto)
I'm trying to reduce my growing list this year (I had four different rose beans last year) but I'd like a proper red kidney and a proper pinto
chrisc
Hi Chrisc, I thought I'd pm'ed you.
I have a few Canadian Wonder if you would like. I'm not quite sure on a climbing pinto though, have you any varieties in mind? If I don't have them I may have some thing similar.
Canadaian WOnder would be lovely .... I guess I can live without pinto's.... I've got four other rose beans anyway, I'll habve to find out what they're like as refried beans :D.... Do you want any of mine?
chrisc
I would like to try something too if possible, don't worry if not enough to go around.
I have ;ots of seeds you may care to try in exchange.
Hi Betula, sorry missed this. Yes please do, plenty to go around, 'll send a pm ;D
Thank you for your offer, much appreciated. I do usually love swapping seeds, but I wanted these to be a straight offer for everyone, if that makes sense.
How did I miss this Jayb! I would love to try one of the selections - but am I too late?
Not too late and plenty to go around ;D
Many thanks- have pm'ed you.
If you're a fan of heritage beans Jayb I wonder if you'd like some Anasazi dwarf beans. Not available for growing anywhere as Adobe Mills have exclusive rights. Pm me if you'd like some.

"The Anasazi were Indians who lived in the four corners area (now Colorado, Utah, Arizona and New Mexico) dating back to 130 A.D. The are best identified with their substantial architectural achievements known today as "cliff dwellings". Mesa Verde National Park, Hovenweep, Canyon de Chelly and many other dwelling that dot the arid countryside, represent these structures. "Anasazi" is a Navajo word perhaps best translated as "the ancient ones".
Anasazi Beans® were one of the few crops cultivated by the Anasazi. They were found in the ruins by settlers to the four corners area in the early 1900's. Presently they are grown at 7,000 ft. elevation on the same land the Anasazi inhabited.
Anasazi Beans® are considered an unusually tasty baking bean, very scrumptious with ham and flavorful in Mexican dishes. This sweeter and mealier bean will allow many culinary delights! They also contain 75% less of the gas-causing carbohydrates compared to pinto beans!"
Good morning,
I am a new member, may I reserve some please.?
::)Hi Jaybis the offer still open for the beans,
as I would like to give it a go,
twins59
A warm thank you Jayb for the bean and pea set :)
Jayb, my Golden sweet mangetout and Stephen's Pea are starting to pop through the soil. :) :)
Something about peas germinating that I really like. Maybe its because they pop up a nice bright healthy looking shoot as compared to the weed like seedlings of other veg.
Thanks again
A wonderful selection of peas and beans arrived today ;D
Many, many thanks, JayB, for organising all this.
Cheers Dandytown and Tin Shed, always good to know they have arrived safely.
Wow that was quick work DandyT ;D
Betula, I haven't received a SAE from you? I wonder if its got lost.
Still plenty of seeds available if anyone is tempted ;D
I'm tempted by the first selection. What do you want, an SAE?
A SAE would be a great help for me, if you want the Oca as well I'm sure they can travel together, I would have thought £1.39 for 1st or £1.17 for 2nd will cover it. Do you need my addie?
Sorry Jayb, will do it this week :o
Yes, PM your address and I'll get it on the way.
Goodlife, I posted your seeds yesterday, so hopefully they will land today ;D or tomorrow :)
Thank you dear :-*...all received ;)

Sorry I've not been keeping up with this thread.
Thanks for the interest Lizax and twins 59, but I kinda wanted this seed offer for contributing members.
Chrisc, lovely sounding beans and thanks for the offer, but I've been so slow to respond I think time maybe against us for this season. I've still have some spare seeds which I'll carry over for next season. I'll happily add your bean packs in to share around but wonder if you would prefer to do swaps with others. I'm only on half speed at the mo so apologies if I've misunderstood .
Yayyyy lovely to hear progress thank you both. I've got a few different peas and mangetout with either flowers or a few little pods on, can't wait ;D
I've posted out bean seeds today, oca too if anyone was waiting, they are on the way ;D
Check out these bad boy's: http://www.bigpumpkins.com/Diary/DiaryViewOne.asp?eid=155262
Think I have lost my climbing pea, possible to frost ??? ??? They have sprouted and opened to reveal withered blackened stumps. Sown in the ground 10 days ago and can't remember a significant frost.
Looking good Dandy ;D thanks for pictures, have they started flowering?
I think I forgot to say if you would like some more climbing beans send a sae plenty here :)
