Title: Anyone help ID this please
Post by: Lavender on February 03, 2011, 22:17:38
Someone has asked me what the plant with the this leaves is.  I think it might be agapanthus, but not sure.  Friend reckons her child may have eaten a bit of leaf and is a bit poorly.

you might need to put up a better pic.
if kid is v poorly - take a bit of plant to A&E with them

Thanks for that.  Yes the pic is pretty poor, but she posted it on facebook and I copied it from there.  Just heard the leaves are sharp and hard if that helps.  I don't think the kid is really ill, and I suspect the plant has nothing to do with it, but I did say I'd try.  Thanks again.

It looks to me like a Puya, which I believe is a bromeliad, I can't find any reference to its being poisonous, and if this is the plant then I don't think a child would eat much - it's very prickly....

Looks to me like a Sisyrinchium. Not sure if poisonous or not. If in doubt ALWAYS take child to A&E either with the plant label or a plant leaf.
