Row Over Crematorium Heating For Swimmers
Moves to warm a swimming pool with heat generated by an adjacent crematorium have sparked outrage.
Roger McKenzie, Unison's West Midlands regional secretary, said: "It goes to show yet again that the Conservatives know the price of everything and the value of nothing.
Does this mean that the consevatives have at long last found a use for as working class. It is sad that someones child has gone to work today and said i have this great idea this has gone to far these people are employed by us the tax payer phone your council offices and lobby your local MP and tell them your feelings on this Im going in the ground leave the Ba---rds freeze
I thought you were into recyling on these boards. Waste not, want not. I wouldn't mind warming up the pies at dinner time for the crematorium staff.
I cannot see the point of wasting good heat.
Well, when my day comes to be cremated, I would be quite happy to be used to heat a swimming pool rather than just generate CO2 uselessly.
I can see why some people wouldn't want to swim in the pool but they need to wake up and smell the exhaust gas from the facility next door.
cremation actually takes a lot of gas!! ( it's why they now wait 'til they've got a few to burn at once, saves gas)
It wouldn't bother me any
They should connect crematoriums with greenhouses.. ;D
... or anybody's house for that matter ;D
Haha, people go for a swim in a pool with bits of skin, poo, spit and piss floating around in it and they're worried about where the heat comes from. ::) ::)
;D trust you Ollie to put it so nicely...but yes..all that and the living zombies who does the swimming :o :-X

I think it's a good idea. Why waste heat! :D
Our plot at Walsall Rd is almost backing on to the crem. Wonder if we could get a pipe laid somehow for when we put the GH up

*Shirl you should turn your avatar into one of your leaded glass decorations!!
Duke :)
Re Captain Scarlet..you should get out more ;D ;D ;D
On the one hand, why waste good heat?
On the other, I always swim faster in a cold pool in a bid to keep warm, therefore burning more calories & staying (hopefully) healthier and costing the nhs less therefore saving money ;D
I think it is a good idea, but would rather they didn't tell me where the heat comes from. Take a child swimming, it is lovely and warm in the training pool. I like it hot, but agree in the main pool it is normally cooler and one has to swim like mad. The showers are lovely and hot in my local pool.

Don't you believe it...
Sadly we only back on to the cemetry... still free fertiliser for the down slope plots... ;D
;D ;D ;D
I wonder if the relatives get any discount on there next swim. ???
And if they had swiming races and the race was a tie, I suppose it would be a DEAD HEAT. :-X ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
;D ;D ;D and if they contested the results it would be "I've got a bone to pick with you" oh sorry this is going downhill now :-X
We could have a race with Australia for the Ashes. :-X ;) ;D ;D ;D
Aw yer dead funny you lot
;D it is a burning ambition of both england and australia to win and retain the ashes ;D
now you're just adding fuel to the fire :o
I think if it is to recycle and save then the council should offer the ashes to folks with lotties instead of sprinkling it in their own lawns.. well fair is fair.

Strangely, our local crem` is just across the road from the local garden centre and next door to the local golf course. ;D ;D ;D
