Post by: shirlton on January 24, 2011, 09:05:05
During the last week or two I have had to have varifocle glasses get speakers for the television and have given someone the wrong number for our address. It didn't even resemle our number. Just waitin for the next revelation. ;D. Me thinks that I will have to put me purple dress avatar up again

Are you sure you are on the right forum, shouldn't it be on the 'lavender lovers' boards, just make sure you've got clean ones on when you go out and print your name and address in them. ;)

Warning - When I Am an Old Woman I Shall Wear Purple

By Jenny Joseph

When I am an old woman, I shall wear purple

with a red hat that doesn't go, and doesn't suit me.

And I shall spend my pension on brandy and summer gloves

and satin candles, and say we've no money for butter.

I shall sit down on the pavement when I am tired

and gobble up samples in shops and press alarm bells

and run my stick along the public railings

and make up for the sobriety of my youth.

I shall go out in my slippers in the rain

and pick the flowers in other people's gardens

and learn to spit.

You can wear terrible shirts and grow more fat

and eat three pounds of sausages at a go

or only bread and pickles for a week

and hoard pens and pencils and beer nuts and things in boxes.

But now we must have clothes that keep us dry

and pay our rent and not swear in the street

and set a good example for the children.

We must have friends to dinner and read the papers.

But maybe I ought to practice a little now?

So people who know me are not too shocked and surprised

When suddenly I am old, and start to wear purple.

Me too.  I remember a fabulous outfit my mum made for me on the 50s - lilac and white polka dots for atop, skirt, shorts and blouse and a gorgeous dee purple long sleeved emire line mini dress in the 60s.

I'm a sucker for purple flowers - except roses, purple veggies except aubergines, purple wellies, purple raincoat, amethyst jewellery, lilac guest room, pretty much purple anything........... except purple prose.

She hasn't ironed it very well, has she, you can still see the peg marks when she hung it out to dry.

I sowed some pepper seeds the other day, then reached for a bit of vermiculite to cover them and sprinkled it over.

Hmm thinks I that's very fine grade vermiculite. Very very fine grade.

Looked on the packet and it was bonemeal.

Dippy or what? :-[ :-[ :-[ ;D
