All varieties are £2.30 per 3kg at our lottie shop.  May try something different to Desiree this year because they get scab every year without fail.  No good as baking spuds then :(

We were happy to buy from this g/centre as they are independent and phone us when they get the stocks in. We used to buy from our allotment "hut"but the quality was -rubbish so we looked elsewhere.I have to say we do buy some from B&Q and they are very good

I was also there (Anstey GC) yesterday lunchtime buying my potatoes. I bought Desiree, Picasso, Red Duke of York, PFA and Charlotte.

Also bought Yellow Moon shallots (did well last year) and they also let me take a couple of freebee potato sacks.

But no Lady Crystl (also did well last year) or International Kidney (wanted to try a few in pots) in yet so another trip may be warranted.

I  bought my Rockets and Kestrels today at our local nursery today, the Roosters haven't come in yet so I'll have to go back for them.
The Rockets were £3.15 for 3kg and the Kestrels were £3.20 for 3kg.
;D ;D ;D

Just got back from our local potato fair with Maris Piper, Anya, Desiree, Rooster and Rocket.
All 15p a tuber - maybe not that much of a bargain but nice to "pick and mix"..

I only have charlotte for this year..and those are self saved. ;D
Last few years some of the lottie folk have started to 'shove' me their 'surplus for requirement' seed potatoes..so I've always had more than I need. So I'm finally going to 'not buy any' and save money for something else ;D
Sods law that if I keep for my plan there is no surplus this year ::)

Briar Lee!  The one at Banks?  I was there yesterday...quite a few types but it was shallots, onions beans etc I really go there for...all loose by the 1/2 pint of course.

My potatoes ths year are Pink Fir, NVS Armour and NVS Sherine...The latter two are from seed I bulked up from micro tubers last year.

Didn't buy from the lottie shop this year.  The potato seeedsman didn't send his lists and they were trying to push Dobies which was expensive.  Got mine in the end from Wyevales.  A bit more expensive but at least I can start chitting them

What's it like growing from micro tubers.  Thinking about them for next year

I've had good results from micro tubers in the past... and your own saved seed are good for several years... I'd recommend "Aura" which is a salad potato only available from HSL as far as I know...  :)

Worked well for me last year growing Congo in big pots.... at least I got a big crop, then lost a chunk of it to the frosts cos I was an idiot... but the crop was impressive....Got some more on order of othe vasieties this yea.... I reckon if I grow micro's in pots in straight manure then I can use part of the crop as seed.....

Potato day in Swindon't was a bit disappointing, no Setanta or Rocket, but I got PFA, Wilja, Salad Blue, Highland Burgundy Red, Edgecote Purple, Lady Christl, Sarpo Axona, and Yetholm Gypsy... wish I could remember what micro's I've got ordered, but there'll be a row of Congo's to add and some gurilla, just past true-seed potato experimentals too.... but need some Setanta....

All my seed potatoes have arrived now  ;D.

Witchill, Kestrel, Nadine and Blue Belle are from JBA, arriving in good condition a couple of weeks ago

Sarpo Kifli, T&M, delivered, look good

Tolluco, from DT Brown

Black Bog, Lumper and Up To Date, 5 of each from ISSA.  Although colour is quite different, Black Bog and Lumper seem quite similar in shape, with deep eyes, kinda lumpy!  ;D
