Title: Poundland Seed Potatoes?
Post by: InfraDig on January 08, 2011, 22:58:07
I bought Charlotte and Rocket, 8 tubers to a pack. Looked OK. Anybody any experience of Poundland pots?
Thanks.

I grew their Pentland Javelin two years ago and they were fine.

And their Setton Onions gave a fine crop last year.

I think the secret is to buy them when they first come in.  If they have spent a month in a heated shop open 7 days a week, that is not best for them.

I went to Merthyr Poundland last tuesday as my daughter told me that the seed potatoes were going on the shelves the day before(Monday) So on  I popped over got there about 9.30am and the shelves were loaded with pentland javeline and rocket spuds, whoever on looking at the packs all I could see was seed potatoes with sprouts nearly 6 inches long growing on them what a wasted journey not only were all the seed potatoes sprouting like mad all the onion sets were showing long green sprouts too. No good at all they may be cheap but totally useless for growing, Were on earth did they store them? in a hot room I suspect

I grew their Pentland Javelin last year in black flower tubs, no problems, nice pots.
