Title: Haulage licences may be revoked? Truth or myth?
Post by: kt. on January 01, 2011, 19:17:07
Just came across this comment by a member of the public on a website.  Anybody heard of anything like this?

speak to hauliers, they will tell you that under labour they were informed that any company who causes blockades or disruption over fuel increases will have its licence to operate revoked, this still stands

No.  Don't work in that industry.  Just looking for a career change in 12-18 months and was considering it.  Came across the comment accidentally.  Just being inquisitive whilst job hunting.

It sounds like an urban myth to me. If any government tried enforcing such a thing they would be leaving themselves open to legal action under restraint of trade legislation.

The Transport and General Workers Union were always rather a powerful force and I doubt that they would take kindly to a labour government putting that forward.

Have you checked their website?
