What was your worst Christmas present?
Mine (well combined for myself and Mr Aqui) were: a Doctor Who documentary on DVD (Mr Aqui stopped liking Dr Who 18 years ago), a chocolote fondue set (something we'd never use - Mr Aqui has given up sugar and I like my chocolate cold!) and some cinema tickets vouchers (we don't go to the cinema anymore and the nearest cinema they can be used at would take at least two hours to travel to). These presents were all from one person!
I thought my mum's gift of kitchen roll (with festive pictures on) was pretty naff, but at least that's useful!
;)
Nope............have sat here for ages and can't really say what is most useless............... I did get a keyring with a little man hanging on it and when you squeeze his tummy he says things like...... 'Here darling, you have the remote'.....and.....'Let's have your mother to stay'...etc..... hehehe.
Weird! I got a chocolate fondue set too and I also prefer my chocolate cold! My friends also got a set - but theirs was a super-duper deluxe version that had no less than FOUR individual fondue sets in it!
;Doh crikey we're now going to have chocolate fondue parties...or lets do the fondue round at birthdays and christmas next year.
no I didn't get one btw .I don't think I had anything I didn't want...not this year.
So, for all you youngsters, the seventies live on! Fondues! I am having difficulty working out what to say! It seemed fun at the time, although always felt hungry afterwards, meat or chocolate prevailing. Nearest thing I have ever come across which is more sustaining is Raclette, anyone tried that? However, have to admit, for me, nothing beats a good roast with all the fresh veggies! Praps it's something about those of us who still know the taste!
Luckily, no naff Chrislemas pressies! Could it be that, getting older, peeps are either more careful or don't bother at all?
Anyway, hope for all of us a really good 2005, take care of yourselves and the rest will take care of itself but remember others on the way!
:D :D :D
A big, heavy silver photo album - it's absolutely gorgeous, but obviously my Gran didn't think about me having to lug it 10,000 or so miles home in a suitcase.
Oh MB, we did a Raclette thingy in Italy whilst skiing many many moons ago. I guess the choccy ones are just gimicks, but you know, I really wouldn't mind giving a proper fondue a go, plenty of vino, good company, lights dim, I reakon it could be fun!
We do proper fondue every Christmas Eve! Love it, meat and cheese, with sauces for the meat, and bread, brocolli and new potatoes for the cheese, delicious and so easy to do! Never fancied the chocolate ones though ::)
Ahhh, Doris, y'mean I can't sell you a choccy fondue set then? Cheap? ;)
what is it with fondues? must be an annual novelty item!
i've had 2 fondue sets in three years, and didn't use either. gave one away to a jumble and took the other one apart-made a handy container for my seed labels in the greenhouse. they were the small chocolate dipping ones, i wouldn't waste all that dairy milk by melting it!!
the daftest presents this year would have to be the 2 pairs of slippers in the wrong size.
OH's mum buys me a pair each christmas, (for the last 3 years) but this year bought the wrong size, tried convincing me they were the right size?! her sister, OH's aunt, also bought me slippers, again wrong size?!
Yeach no thanks Doc! I'll stick with me savory ones! :D Kerry one year we had an abundance of chocolate body painting kits!! The chocolate was used on toast for the kids, and the brushes provided in the kitchen as pastry brushes! ;D
;DKerry a girl after my own heart...often wondered how chocolate can get in a fondue...the hand to mouth action is much to strong.
