Think it is good to have a bus pass but found this alternative for those who do not

I have been running a 4 seater, 20 yr old AX on petrol and it's seems to go for ever without seeing a petrol station (in Brittany). At £1.22 a litre that is great value. My husband bought a 4l Jeep so that was not such a good deal, especially as we had loads of problems with it :-X
We decided to get a brand new 7 seater diesel (Renault Dacia Logan 1.5d - not in the UK until 2012), diesel is £1.05. It worked out cheaper than all the repairs, insurance and fuel and we have the extra seats for our many visitors.
Here there is a one off payment when you apply for your 'log book' based on age and engine size. No road tax as that is included in the fuel price. Insurance includes European Breakdown even if you are third party - and it is cheap. On the down side a new basic tyre fitted costs about £50 ???
Btw, my parents have bought the AX off us for when they come over. Happy days ;D

What's that got to do with it? I thought this was a thread about PETROL PRICES?
I've done 22,000 miles since March with my job; how exactly does one do that on a bike? Or on a bus.
Rofl.
You people are funny!

Interesting to see the breakdown of where our money goes and how prices have gone up.
I wonder how much it will be in another 10 years time?
If I need to be somewhere, I don't really have a realistic alternative to car travel.
Being a self employed gardener, I MUST have my own transport. Though I`m entitled to a bus pass, my tools aren`t lol ;D
Just seen £1.31 :o :o
This was in the Guardian today:
The AA has warned that an increase in fuel duty of 0.76p a litre on 1 January, allied with a 2.5% increase in VAT days later, will add around 3.5p per litre to the price of fuel.
On the way to work this morning at a Tesco £1.23.
Our 2 nearest garages are £1.33 and £1.45
£1.27 here

Last time this just stopped petrol supplies for everyone. No worries that time or this time in this household, we can both walk if nessesary, I normally cycle and OH is only five minutes drive so we'd be fine for months but poor aj will be stuffed in a week. Plus the goverment put some very nasty laws in place to stop serious protest.
