Title: Can you freeze Cheese?
Post by: purple sprouting on December 24, 2010, 19:10:18
In a moment of madness I bought a huge piece of Stilton.   I love the stuff, but the date is at the end of December and with all of the other cheese in the 'fridge I was wondering if it could be frozen in small pieces for a treat in January/February.

Alternatively any ideas on using it up in a way that can be saved?

Depends on the grade, but many hard cheeses can become crumbly in the freezer.

Doesn't harm the flavour but I prefer it to slice unless I'm making a sauce or a topping.

Cheers.
