local councils have ordered less road salt with 1.48 million tonnes in 2010/11 compared with just under 1.51 million tonnes in 2009/10.
A report added that 75 of the 205 UK councils surveyed had not received all of this year's road salt order.

Again >:(
Our council has already used over half of it`s salt stock. Lord help us when the winter really hits next month.
Well, we seem to be doing OK. Lots of snow and frost, but roads kept passable.
No problems with shopping locally.

No problems here either- gritters passed me in about 5 mins the other day, all spreading!
More media hype - more stocks will be on their way, the figures relate to what has already been stockpiled not what has been ordered, a subtle difference which makes for good headlines .
