Title: Feral cat BLOG
Post by: Squash64 on December 16, 2010, 08:52:55
I've started a blog about the cats on our allotments.  It's my first attempt at blogging and I'm not quite sure what I'm doing yet, so any comments or suggestions would be welcomed.

Thanks

What a good idea! I'll have a proper look at it later on, and add it to my various blog favourites lists.   :)
Don't worry about being a bit unsure what your doing, just do as you have here and on Facebook and you'll be fine. I've been blogging for years now so ask away if you do have any problems or queries.

Looks good to me, you are clever. I bet the cats are looking forward to the summer so they can sleep in the sun.

I think your blog is lovely. Looking forward to more - really like that the pictures are so good, easier to see than on here sometimes  :D

Thanks Flighty.
I've added a link to your blog on it, hope that's ok.

How are they doing in this weather, Betty?   Are you or Ken able to get there to feed them?

The Three are fine, always waiting for me when I go over to feed them every morning.  The Four on my plot do come for food but I don't always see them every day.  Yesterday three of them were there, this morning none.

I'm lucky in that I live close enough to walk if the snow stops me driving over.  I go there every morning at about 9 and feed them all, then someone else feeds them at lunchtime and then Ken goes on purpose to feed them in the afternoon.

I've just spoken to someone from the Cats Protection who is going to write a bit about us for their national newsletter.  They think it might encourage other allotment sites to take on cats which are not suitable for indoor living.

I really enjoyed reading your blog Betty. MrsC does voluntary work for a local cat shelter. My role is confined to pick-ups and drop offs but I know all too well what a thoroughly miserable life un-neutured strays can live. They spend their time fighting and breeding - feline-aids is rife where I live and the cat shelter puts to sleep, any feral cats that test positive. The alternative is an awful death from multiple complications. Sometimes ferals are forever hungry too. Good on you for everything you have done for these cats. I'll follow your blog with interest!
