Some of you may remember that I had hoped last year to get a British Shorthair kitten. Unfortunately he had a heart condition so it didn't happen.
I've now signed up for a black tortie girl. Photos when available.
Lucky you, look forward to the photos! :)
That's really weird because I was only thinking about you today and wondering if you were still going to get a kitten!
Can't wait to see the photos. :)
I will try not to look at the photographs, as it will make me want me. Kittens are such fun. Poor Charlie is an old moaning cat, he does feel the cold, but we still love him, apart from pooing in the bedroom and wailing at night.
Here she is -13 days old. 1 2 3 -awwwwwww!! ;D
What a little cutie. What are you going to call her?
What a little darling! :)

I'm planning to call her Becky Sharp - Becky or Becks for short. I need to find two alternative names though for her registration in case they don't accept that one, so any suggestions will be gratefully received!
She's beautiful!
Have you been to see her yet?
She's lovely - you are so lucky!

I don't get to see her until after Christmas when she's 4 weeks old because of the danger of infection.
Here's another photo though.
She's beautiful, you must be so excited.

Soooo cute!
Is she a British Shorthair too? What colour are her parents? Someone from the Cats Protection told me that they call tortoiseshells 'Naughty Torties'!
Yes she is a British Shorthair.
Dad is second down - George Macgregor

And yes! I too have heard the expression "naughty tortie", but can anything that beautiful be naughty?
Any suggestions for names?
Her parents are gorgeous, lovely expressions and colouring.
As for a name, I often visit a cats website http://www.pictures-of-cats.org and the chap who runs it told me that cats of this colouring

are known as 'calico' in the States which is why I called her Calico.
That's right. Calico is for tortoiseshell and white cats - usually in the USA. Here they get called ... wait for it .... tortoiseshell and white! ;D ;D

Imagine me walking up my plot and calling 'Tortoiseshell and White'!
'Calico' is a bit more user-friendly. ;)
I suppose she was born during the heavy snowfall you had in Edinburgh? Could you use a snow-related name? Something like Becky-freezing-her-Socks-off? (Socks after her Mother)
OK I've been giving some thought to names.
How about - in order of preference:
Becky Sharp (Becky/ Becks)
Lucy girl thingy ( Lucy/ Lu) -only problem with this is that google search brings up porn sites
Juniper Jazz (Jazz)
What do you think and have you any more suggestions?

Sisters cat also a tortie, called becks (siblings called guiness and carlsberg). Cutest cat ever, perfect chocolate box looks but very dominant and would kill anything smaller than her. She brought home stoats for goodness sake. Put one ex-topcat in the vets after tearing him up because he wouldn't give in.
Well here she is at 3 weeks!
Soooo beautiful - what I'd give to find her in my Christmas stocking.
Mac socks ;D
She is so beautiful!
Have you decided on a name yet?
Yes I'm going to stick with Juniper Jazz. She'll get called Jazz. Seems to suit her somehow and my son - who is not easily impressed in such matters - thought it was a good name.
Her brothers are Klaus (red) and Santiago (black).
That's a nice name for a lovely looking kitten!
She looks very sweet.
Oh my, what a super little cutie. Now I want one.
Awwwe she just looks so cute :) can't wait to see the next piccies ;D
Jazz sounds good.
Now four weeks old.
She is getting cuter by the week!
I've just looked at her breeder's website, very interesting. It is good to see how fussy she is about who buys her kittens.
Lovely kitten, what age are you allowed to take her home. My son just got a new kitten at 5 weeks, the vet was quite shocked as said that was too young. It is eating OK and using a litter tray, but is very tiny. I am sure that the breeder would know the best time to separate from Mum, just interested.
She is beautiful and a lovely name too. I am pleased you didn't call her Becky Sharp as it would have been shortened to Becks and she might not have appreciated having the same name as that famous English football captain. ;D ;D ;D
The recommended age for leaving the litter is 13 weeks but the last kitten I had was 6 weeks old.
More cute by the day, well week!
Here she is at 5 weeks.
just caught up with this thread and yes aaaaaaaaaaawwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww what a cutie!
Lovely name too (although I have to say I love the name Becky Sharpe - one of my favourite literary characters!)
Not long now till she will be ready to start her new life
1066 ( blimey I miss having a cat around the house) :)
It occurred to me that I need to start training myself to close washing machine, tumble dryer, toilet seats on a regular basis!! Also put food in a cupboard to cool down rater than the worktop.
My last cat, Baj, managed to climb through my neighbour's kitchen window and remove a roasted chicken that had been left to cool on the worktop. What a sweetie! He carried it all the way home to me! Hehe!
Kept him in food for a week.
Mind you my neighbour wasn't well pleased, so we replaced the chicken.
She is looking so confident I think you are going to have a lot of fun (?) with her.
She is just so cute!
Is she going to be an indoor cat? (sorry if I've already asked that, too many Senior Moments these days ::))
That cheeky cute look is really starting to emerge and I'm getting hints of mischief in those eyes ;D
Betty - she will be an indoor cat in the sense that she won't be allowed to roam, but I have a collar and lead so hopefully she'll go the odd walk with me and the dog. When I had the cat, Baj, I also had a golden retriever and Baj used to come for walks with us - occasionally riding on the dog's back and other times darting off to explore things, only to catch us up later. Also I'm redesigning my (relatively small) garden although it's still at the drawing board stage, and I hope to make it cat safe so she can be in the garden with me when I'm out there.
Jayb and Poppy Mole - I think you are absolutely right! :o :o
Any new photos Anne?
Have you been to see her yet? I don't suppose you have much longer to wait till you get her.
Have you got her yet? Waiting for more piccies please.
I'm 9 weeks now! Yeah!! You'd better watch out!! :o :o :o :o
gorgeous - our Poppy looks just like that, face half and half , what a joy
So cute :)
First vet check tomorrow and another 4 weeks before I get her.
Grrrr...little tiger ;D...displaying the big and dangerous teeth ;D
Everybody be aware! ;D...aawwwwwww....

I agree with goodlife- that's scary!! ;) ;)
She is a real little character isn't she!
She is beautiful. Her markings are just like my Eclipse (born during the eclipse a few years ago), sadly she got run over by a speeding car a while back.
she is a pretty kittten anne ,am always here if you need any advice. Hopefully 1 of our cats is due to have kittens in march.
Thanks GB! Only 3 weeks to go now and I'm getting nervous!
Here's a 10 week photo: "Wha daur meddle wi' me?" perhaps!!? ::)[attachment=1]

Aww lovely ;D
Lucky you!
She's absolutely adorable!
Sooooo cute !
Alison
not long now! ;D ;D ;D Then I'm hoping for / expecting lots of photos ;D
Hey! I've got attitude!!!!!!! :o :o :o :o[attachment=1]
Well this little cutie has done nothing but play and purr since she got here. Went away to answer the phone and had a minor panic when I came back. False alarm she was sound asleep on the kitchen table curled round the fruit bowl.
Now sleeping on the chair beside me after picking at some food. Clearly too excited to eat much!
The long wait is over at last! I'm glad she has settled and doesn't seem to be missing her previous home much.
We need lots of photos now ;)
Glad you've got her now - she is exploring her new surroundings. So lovely :)
She looks a little bundle of fun.You are acting just like a new mom ;D

Is that you or the kitty?! ;) :D :D :D
How are you getting on with her?
Well she's now eating for Britain and I've decided we need a covered litter tray! Too much stuff flying everywhere!!
She has the run - and I do mean run!! ;D ;D - of the house now. She flies around at a great lick and then ends up getting shut in cupboards. Sometimes she complains when this happens but usually just falls asleep and waits to be found.
[attachment=1]
There is another cat behind the mirror in the wardrobe and she launches herself at it and then tiptoes away tail atwitching as if to say "Me do something stupid like that? No way!!"
She has a great personality and is full of fun and very affectionate. You just have to look at her for her to start purring.
She and the dog are certainly not bosom buddies yet but they're OK together. I can even leave them alone together. Hissing has stopped although she occasionally arches her back if the dog runs towards her. No more growls from the dog.
She keeps us entertained for hours (then collapses and sleeps - dead to the world).
Just caught up with this. She is beautiful Anne.Aren't kittens time wasters? We used to spend so much time watching and playing with ours that nothing got done at all!
Thanks for the update.
She's really keeping you entertained and busy! What happens when you go out and leave her, do you confine her to one room?
I love watching the allotment cats, it's fascinating to see how they behave with each other.
So pleased for you - it's amazing how they take over as head of the house though isn't it?
I can't believe how quickly she has grown.
She so looks at home now ;D
This little cat is a real cracker! So loving, so responsive ... she could almost be a dog!!
But she's intelligent too .. It's amazing how she figures things out.
15 weeks - eating like a horse, playing all day and delighting us with her sweet, loving temperament.[attachment=1]
She seems a delight. :)
Loverly kitten we lost ours to old age 2 years ago and every time we go shopping I say the cat food is on offer but she won,t say either way, but we are still holidaying abroad and we don,t like the kennels by us, so I will wait one will come to the door hungry then we will see
She is beautiful - just look at those eyes!
She is so pretty and I love her markings.I have a naughty tortie too. Lillie is only naughty sometimes but when she is she is far naughtier than the others. Welcome to naughty Tortie land, hope you both will be very happy. :)
She was at the vet's yesterday. He reckons she has doubled her size in the last 3 weeks. She's really not very naughty! Purrs constantly and licks us. I've never had a cat that licked before! Oh she bites me as well, but ever so gently and then licks you so you know she didn't really mean it. She's still skatebo[attachment=1]arding around the side of my bed and launching herself at the naughty cat in the wardrobe mirror.
:) Glad she is doing so well they are great fun at that age , but you need eyes in the back of your legs ;D ;D
So pretty. Yes she looks bigger. And fun ... :)
