It must have been cold last night- ice on the inside of the double-glazing this morning! Haven't had that for many a year but with an end of terrace with no cavity walls to insulate that room is very hard to keep warm.Brrr!
Brrrr indeed..we've got -5 at the moment..outside ::) ;D
I have go outside every hour to give some hot water on chickens drinker or it will freeze over. Poor chucks ..but at least they get hot breakkie every morning and as it is so cold even during day I might give them hot meal at the end of day too. Nothing nicer than going into bed with belly full of warm food ;D....and same instructions for you too Caroline ;)
BBBBRRRR indeed, thats cold! Ive never seen such heavy frost here as we have today, the shrubs in the garden look so terribly sorry for themselves, actually worried if they going to be ok for the first time
Very cold here too.
I need to go outside to get something out of the garage - not looking forward to that.
When I finally managed to chip the car out of the frost this morning it said -8.5C it only says -6.5 now I've got back... :o
Caroline, we used to have a room like yours - our youngest son's bedroom. This year, after the first snows we took action and had the two flat walls (no doors or windows) drylined and insulated and did the same to the roof. Total cost about £300 but it is sooo toasty. We are waiting for son to go away with Army Cadets in Feb before we do the plastering - so ATM he calls it his padded cell ;D ??? ::) ;D
Just sent Tony down to the shed for the tatties.brrrrr
Sounds like a good idea, SMP, but our room is what used to be a shop on the end of the terrace (ex- brewery houses) so it has three outiside walls. One has a big "shop window", the opposite one has patio doors and the end wall has the chimney and one small window, so there's not a huge amount of wall left, plus there's a cellar underneath, which probably doesn't help! Our daughter's bedroom is above it and we insulated the loft above that, which made a big difference to her room but not the downstairs one. Surprisingly, the girls are happy to watch telly wrapped in blankets rather than put the gas fire on (or as well recently!)

The poor scarecrow near the gate was all frosty this morning.
Only -3.5c here but that's cold enough. I have to be brave today & go out after lunch,it'll be the first time in over a week.
That poor scarecrow - I feel his pain ::).
(Are the cats OK?)
Betty, please tell me you have not left that little baby out in the cold!!! ;D

Oh no, I couldn't do that! :o
She is going to be an indoor baby scarecrow anyway, and will soon be posted off to her new parents.
I think I'll make another one today....
So pleased to hear it I hope her new parents love her just as much as ner grandad and the rest of us!!
Thanks again for all the time and trouble you took to post the instructions! :) :) :)
-7 When i got up at 430 this morning, after my health scare last year,on doctors orders i now get off the bus about half way and walk the rest of the way it takes about 40 Min's,let me tell you by the time i got there i was bloody cold. then work asked if I'd do favor and go and stand on the forest tram stop as the bloke who should be doing it had called in sick,so from 730 till 10 i was back out in the cold and boy was it cold, -9 on the forest I was that cold I felt ill,I wish now favor or no favor I'd have said no,been home about an hour and got the heating on full and still feel BLOODY cold, and Ive got to go back at 3 for the second half of my shift. :'(
The snow's falling here again. Airport closed and no buses. Meantime the AA is advising against any car journeys!! But the schools are in!!

Froglegs I do not know what you do but I don't think you get paid enough!!! and going back for second half of your shift sounds awful :o
I promise not to moan again about the weather :-[
It is cold here in Essex thick frost still nearly 2pm.
BUT it is December so we must expect this freezing weather.
-19 at 6.30am when I went to work this morning :o :o :o
^^ Yikes, where are you? Shetland?
I have given myself chilblains for the first time ever - from putting my freezing cold feet on a hot water bottle. But at least I now know it's not frostbite or trenchfoot.
I'm in Lincolnshire
It was -5 overnight but we are having a heatwave now it is -3. All foggy as well. Reminds me of going to school in the smogs of the 60s except it does not smell as bad.
I am glad that I do not have to go out and stand about in it.
What happened to global warming?

caroline - it was cold last night; it was -16.7 at Linton on Ouse and -18 at Topcliffe... Makes it feel relatively warm near me last night (http://www.dugglenet.org/wdisplay/wdl.html) as this site recorded -14.8!!!
Proper brass monkeys this morning, frost and fog and I was working outside, it was hard to warm the old plates up. :'( :'( :'(
Just seen we are forecast -14 tonight- may have to break the habit of a lifetime and have the heating on overnight :o
However, when I go to the "next 24 hours" option, the minimum shown is -7 ???
It is -13 here now in Derby..I've just had to go to my parents house to do some washing as my washing machine is frozen and will not work, and now the water will not drain down the sink either........ >:(

Caroline, we're in a similar set up and hubby has spent the last couple of weeks insulating between the floor joists. Made a world of difference!
Noticed it actually made it to 0 this morning when I took hubby to work. Positively balmy ::) ;D
A government minister said yesterday that all people travelling with this bad weather around should be prepared for the worst and should carry with them a Spade,A hot drink in a thermas flask, food, a blanket, jump leads and tow rope!
I looked a proper tw@t on the bus this morning!
^^^ Hahahaha ;D
Watched the forecast last night and it said icy conditions and dense fog would be dominating this area today. By 9.30am we had bright sunshine and blue skies!! Has been flipping cold though.
I have never felt it so cold as today. - whatever, it was Baltic. We went out a walk to take Pictures of the ice but came home PDQ much too cold.
::)
-20 at 6.30am this morning. -16 now. :o :o :o
