Can these jobbies infect copied music files from pc to i-pods & visa versa?

No - Not really telboy..

There have been a few reported instances of trojan infected mp3 files but the files are actually complete fakes and are really an executable file - ie. they are song.mp3.exe rather than song.mp3 but most people wont see the .exe on the end.

There are ways of delivering malicious content via the header of the MP3 such that the MP3 player will play it OK but the PC could be infected, if I remember correctly it's dependant on you using Media Player in a rather insecure way.. It's Gods way of telling you to stop usiong M$ products :D

There was such a vunerability about 8 yrs ago but not anymore.
I think it was WinAmp...

If this were true then there would be millions of people infected everyday as copying/playing MP3 files is probably one of the most popular pastimes on the net...

More FUD from the Linux Community??  ;)  ;)
