Does anyone have a coffee machine like the Tassimo one? I am thinking about having one. The thought of walking in on a cold day and just pressing a button to get one cup of hot chocolate or on a hot day working on the lottie and getting a cup of tea and coffee in the morning sounds like the next best thing to have someone make it for you.
Just 2 questions. Is it easy to use?
Is it easy to clean?
Yes I know it is expensive and the discs are not cheap.
Thanks for any info..
A friend of mine has one, I can only compare it with my expresso machine with all the bells and whistles. His makes a far superior cup of coffee without all the faffing about I have to do. You will need to aquire the taste of french cigarettes. Gauloises and expresso the proper way to start the day. 8)
We too have one of the fancy espresso machines, which makes a mean cup of coffee. However, it does take us about fifteen minutes to make two cups of coffee in the morning, which is ok as long as you're not in a hurry. In contrast, the neighbours have one of the nescafe ones which takes about twenty seconds and also tastes pretty good. It's certainly looks easy to use from what I've seen.
Not bothered about the Gauloise but could murder a double Espresso... :)
I have a Gaggia machine. It's brilliant being able to make a good cup of coffee in the time it takes the water to pour. Cleaning is almost a non-issue.
Before I bought a coffee machine last year I spent ages looking at the reviews on amazon. The only trouble with them is some people have such differing reports for the same article. But if you look for long enough and read enough it tends to give you a good idea. It was important to me to be able to buy Fairtrade coffee so I went for a delonghi machine that allows you to use ground coffee. It was a bargain in the sales at the time and takes a few minutes to make a lovely cup of coffee. Had a cup froma nespresso machine once which uses the pods and is loads quicker-that was also nice but seemed wasteful with the aluminium pods (to me anyway). I think I've saved money now cos my machine was quite cheap and I prefer it so often go home for a coffee when I'm out.
If anyone knows of a solar powered coffee machine for the allotment ;D ;D
During the day, for speed, I use Lyons coffee bags: 4 minutes
Try this

superb coffee,how you want it!!
We to had a Gaggia machine that took the coffee pods and it made good coffee. However it went wrong three times with the same fault and has now been skipped. We have just bought a Dualit piccolina (john lewis) it uses the caffitaly system the same as Gaggia, the pods cost around £2.95 for ten.We like the coffee pods because they remain sealed and fresh until the moment it pours.
I stayed with a family for a weekend once that had a bread machine and coffee machine on timers.
We awoke to the aroma of fresh bread and coffee. Now that was living!
I use a French press that heats on its electric base in a flash by the time I put in a scoop of coffee.
Very easy to wash and doesn't take up space.
I'll stick to my nescafe cappuccino sachets, boil the ketttle stir in with a tad of milk, 5 seconds no problem. ;D ;D ;D

Thanks tonybloke. At £5.40 with free delivery I'm going to try that! One is on it's way.
I have a gaggia titanium auto bean to cup machine..
Stagger to machine - press buttons - drink large espresso. Repeat every day! It is by far the best coffee making thing I have ever owned - I am past the 3,500 cup now (i know because it keeps count!)
I have a plastic filter cone and a box of filter papers from Sainsbury's. Easy peasy to make a coffee and there are so many fabulous coffees out there, why tie yourself to the stuff in pods?
;D Why indeed ;D..I've got cheap coffee maker from Asda I buy all different sorts of coffees to go with it...I do like some Whittards freshly grounds though..and when I have time I have grinder to make my own..ohh..the smell of the beans ;D
I use the big machine for the foamy stuff, but a little perculator type jug when I am in a hurry got it cheap in Ikea

If anybody wants to get you a pressy for xmas get them to get you a world coffee selection from whittards, it is nice to try them all out. I don't need to as I get a regular supply of Blue Mountain every xmas straight from a friends family plantation.

^^ I recommend these guys as selling the best coffee in the world (really). But Taylors of Harrogate's Cafe Imperial in not at all bad for the price. You used to be able to buy Cuban coffee in the supermarkets; it seems to have disappeared now but Higgins have it. And their gift packs are nice if you are looking for something for a coffee fiend.
What a lot of information. My heads spinning. Each reply which mentions a machine makes me think I will go for that. I have decided to treat myself regardless of cost, getting lazy in my old age. Just want to be sure I will like the drink they make. Ace has me worried as I don't like strong coffee.
Thanks all. A4A a great help.

I would suggest you find a demo in a store first, or a friend that has one. If you do not like strong coffee you could be wasting your money. But if you stick to arabica beans you get the taste without the strength. Try a standard costa coffee or starbucks next time you are out.
