I've just uninstalled a programme that I didn't mean to and it's got lots of information that I desperately want to keep.
I've tried system restore - back to several different points - and they just keep failing. Is there any othe way of getting it back at all please? The last back up was done before this programme was installed so I can't even get my info back from there :(
Any advice would be very much appreciated (particularly before my husband gets home from work and realises what I've done!!)
Thank you :)
What program was it?
There is a chance that it has left settings and data behind but i'd have to know what it was you uninstalled..
Hi Nick,
Thanks for answering. It's the iGotU programme - http://www.i-gotu.com/
It's just been mentioned to me that a system restore may not work with an antivirus in place. We use Bitdefender and I'm quite sure we've done system restores before whilst that's been in operation.
What about My Compuer then Local Disc C then Downloads to se if its there
Thats about as much as i can help
Sam - the prog seems to store its data in a folder in your user settings folder
On Xp this would be c:\Documents and settings\your username\Application Data\Mobile Action.. (win 7 - replace "Documents and settings" with "user")
Try navigating to that folder to see if it is there - if so it is possible that all your data is still there..
If you cannot see the Application Data folder that is because it is hidden.
On any folder window click tools - Folder options - View - There is an option to View Hidden files and folders..
Then try again..
If there is anything there then you can try to reinstall the program. Make a copy of the Mobile Action folder first though..

Nick, thank you thank you thank you. Data has been retrieved and is now safe and sound!!

Thanks also, Davy :)
A4Aers are just so helpful and knowledgable!
Happy to help Sam! ;D
Do you do a lot of running or geocaching or something?
Nick, sorry, I don't know why I didn't see this before :-[
My husband bought it to use for ours/his travels, specifically our long trip to Canada earlier this year. It tracked the entire holiday and when loaded onto the computer sync'd (sp?) all of the photos and videos taken at the same time. Some of the results were quite funny, particularly boat trips going round in circles, lol ;D
