Does anyone have a straightforward apple cake recipe?
I used to have a dead easy microwave recipe but have lost it, and have tried a couple from the internet recently without being very impressed. I've got loads of cooking apples that need using up.
me too.
I used to have a 'dutch apple cake' recipe where you mixed the flour butter sugar and eggs quite stiffly and added chopped apples
Then made a spicy crumble for on top, that was nice but I can't remember the details.
I think it was in a Recipe book from one of the margarine companies I will go and google.
I have somewhere my mum's Dutch Apple cake recipe - delicious. I'll see if I can locate it, but it has been years since I've made it. But now you've mentioned Apple cake I want some ::)
I think the base was like this recipe

The topping was like this recipe

I just bake as normal and find it to be ok
I posted this in 2009.......still good
Or you could use David's Divine Dorset Apple cake recipe which I am eating at the moment, as I am still using up windfall apples. See http://www.growyourown.info/page148a.html
That looks quite similar to this one which I made yesterday and is yummy.

It does help when the quantities are very clear!
Brilliant. Someone brought in an apple cake for Children in need fundraising and I ate loads of it. Can't wait to bake this one.
I am also planning to use some apples up making a creamed rice pudding with apple compote. Also delicious and I'll post the recipe if wanted.
