22 inches  and sick of it.  wish it would just go but me thinks it will take a few JCB's to remove a lot of it in this village.   Beautiful scenes but needing a big shop now and the roads are treacherous.

Sorry to hear about all your snow.   Can you not put in an order for a grocery delivery from a Supermarket or do they not have them in your part of the world?  Their lorries may cope with the conditions better than your own car.

Sorry to read about your problems Fork.

Just a sprinkle in Swindon.  The ice is the problem on the foot paths.  Off to work now, not looking forward to the journey, but least at this time off the morning no much about and a nice set of warm ovens to cuddle upto when I get my frozen body there  ;D ;) Just add veg curry for breakfast.  Take care all. About 8 inches here in Ayrshire and still snowing.  The ploughs are doing a great job of keeping main roads open and all the schools are still open, surprisingly!

Into the seconed week of it now and it is still arriving. Sat in the bay window this morning looking over the North Sea and it is black with snow cloud. Each day i have been down the allotment had to knock of at least 4" of snow off the pollytunnel appart from one morning when instead of snow it rained the night before.
We have had the lot snow, hail, rain, thunder and lighting, and it now time to gear up and toddle of down to the allotment.

We've got about 6".and it's been snowing heavily all morning. My daughter was supposed to have an interview at Lancaster uni today. Was going to drive but decided this morning to go by train but the snow and traffic into york was so bad we gave up and came home. She will be given another date but she was all psyched up for it and I've wasted a precious day's holiday. >:(

Tons of the stuff ;D Just spent couple of hours shoveling it aside to be able to open gates etc. Had to clear some paths for neighbours too as the wind blew loads against their gates and doors and they were not able to get out.
It was really nice to be out on street same time with  neighbours who you don't normally have chance to see  much.
We had good chat while clearing some of the street..we had some dogs running free, really enjoying the moment of freedom. ;D ;D..and not a single car able to move ;D ::) Like different landscape for a while ;D

I can't believe some of the pictures on the telly, the bit of dust that fell last night blew away, I am glad I am stuck indoors  but would not go out in it anyway if it was here.

They are still forecasting some to come here later, even the hospital have put out a call for 4x4 owners to get in touch, I've put my name down but my nipper will have to drive it as I am not insured until I get the all clear from the physio terrorists .

Still look on the bright side, With all this 'poor man's fertiliser' laying about it will be bumper crops next year.

Well a bit back we had global warming and every one was so worried that the local councils were obliged to get us to segregate our waste so that everything was recycled.

Since we got our variety of coloured wheely bins and our disposable waste has been segregated.

It has got colder. Not just a bit but a lot.

BAN THIS RECYCLING and let's return to global warming.

Oh no - you mean your bins made it snow?! Would it help if you covered them or would you need to actually destroy them to restore the natural balance?  ;)

It is a terrible dilemma. They took all our old dustbins and destroyed them which means we can never return to the way things were.

Only a couple of centemetres in Northampton, we usually get away with not too much snow. Having said that its snowing now, doubt it will be much thankfully.

Hubbly and daughter are long distance truck drivers, they have had no problems so far. But seen plenty of the white stuff.

Had at least a foot of the stuff here in Leeds yesterday.

Beloved husband made me buy a BMW which is stuck in the car port, I'm not even attempting to get it out until the drive's cleared! Buying front wheel drive car next time  ::)

Buggy not designed for deep snow either so we're pretty stuck. More forecast for today & tonight, but no sign of it yet thankfully.

My neighbours are lovely too - cleared a path, walked to the shops and picked up a prescription for me. Couldn't get a loaf, though - Co-op and baker both sold out. They came home very cheerful and positively glowing - (went into the pub for a couple of warmers while my prescription was being done!!!)

We've had about 8'' - (a lot more to shout about than our Kev's ½''!) - that's more than we had last winter.

Here's a snap of my birdbath!

Know what to get next time then  ;D

Keep having to explain to people that just because it's big & heavy doesn't mean it's good in snow. The whole rear wheel drive thing just baffles most people.

I'm just loving being on mat leave! Had to go into work last time it was like this. Took forever in the car, with several brown trouser moments, and then had to spend 8 hours in an unheated shed. Plus they never clear the drive early enough so have a mile and a bit of untreated road to negotiate and then have to try & get out of the car park. People who think gardening is all glamorous like on the telly should give it a go at this time of year!

I haven't been in work for a week now..gardening is officially off..although one of my silly clients tried to say that I can still come.."I'm sure there is something to do outside..if you want" :o ::) How can you explain some people that not only I'm not able to get car out our street because of the snow...I'm not going to walk 5 miles in this weather neither to get their house and then spend few hours doing something outside and walk back another 5 miles ::) Anybody fancy a job...pulling hair moments guaranteed ::)

Mrs Gumboot and goodlife - that's always the way, isn't it? People always think they're stuck in the snow, but everyone else should try harder!

I've had to work at home, but no commuting at all since Tuesday, and so I've really enjoyed it! I feel so much less tired than normal. Normally when it snows, people expect you to try and struggle in, even if it takes hours, but this week, there was no point even trying.

My friend's train took 3 hours instead of 45 mins, because at every station the doors froze open, and had to be pushed shut. Imagine having that job. And everyone would just be moaning about how late the train was!

I think it will seem a bit boring when it goes away and the colours go from brilliant white to brown and grey of a normal winter.

Still causing problems for colleagues up north notts/retford/peak district area, even those whose have company-issue 4x4s!!!  For myself in Leicestershire and the more-south colleagues it's starting to go away.

On a more amusing note I rang the parents in the week to see how things stood with them as they live up near Lincoln.   Dad advised me that they weren't having too many problems and he'd been out clearing footpaths and driveway's for their elderly neighbours so they could get out.   What made me laugh is that Dad is 72!!!!

No melting my way.  We managed to get the car on the road, first time I have been a shopping in 9 days.  I reckon this snow will still be here in march.  There is so much in the garden and there is a mountain of snow at the side of the roads, I just can't see it melting back to green grass in a long time.

We have now got a real pea souper outside, I can hear the fog horns blowing away on the solent, really spooky. The last time this happened back in the 80's it froze in the air and everything had a icy glaze even the tree trunks. It killed loads of plants as the bark split when they thawed out. Most of the big cedars lost loads of limbs because of the extra weight. Lets hope it does not freeze.

Yesterday was the first in 10 days that it didn't snow- still very cold and icy- very grateful that my son made it here from Inverness driving overnight on Friday, and then back again today- essential journeys both.  Am hoping that by next weekend, when he has to di it again, it'll be a bit easier!  I do absolutely love how it makes everything look though, and shall be sad when it does eventually go.  Am going to brave a visit to the lottie tomorrow to see how things are- can't wait!
