Title: Control Panel
Post by: tim on November 27, 2010, 11:58:17
How is it possible that my account is different to Daughter's (the first one)?

It's her layout that I want.

Trust A4A for instant info!

Got to do lunch, so back later.

It's not just the display that's the problem - the content is different. Especially in the Personalistion/change of the screen saver.

Well - having established that the contents are the same, although shown differently, I get the picture I want as Screensaver, click OK, & it disappears without allowing me to select APPLY.

That is because you should Click Apply before you  Click OK.

You do not have to click 'Apply' before clicking 'OK' but if the 'Apply' button is not enabled then windows does not think there are any changes to save so changes don't get saved when you click 'OK'

I don't know why your apply button is not enabled, maybe a bug, try changing the wait time, that will enable the apply button, then click OK (or apply) and see if that works.

The way I used to change my Display picture by Double Clicking on the one which appears at present, then Clicking on Personalization. Select the picture you want and  Click on it. I then get a screen full of my pictures. Clicking on the one I want puts a tick in box and the words Save Changes appear at the bottom of the Screen.
Are you on XP or W7?

When I select Personalisation, I get this.

I then select Screen Saver & get the window above, with a slide show of photos. If I click OK when the one I want shows, it goes blank!

Tim

Are you trying to select a desktop background or a screensaver..

Aha!!

Desktop - Screensaver - Wallpaper..............confusion in terms.

Desktop, of course. And when I first did it I had no trouble, but now can't see my way through.

Screensaver seems to be the only thing that is clickable.

Screen Saver is  accessed through  Control Panel -Personaliszation-Screen Saver (bottom right).
In the Box which says 'Photos' Change it to one of the other options, like 'Bubbles' for example. This will bring up the Apply button. Then Change it back to Photos and the Apply Button should stay lit up.

Desktop background picture is accessed through Control Panel-Personaliszation-Desktop Background (bottom left).
Select the picture you wish to use as Desktop background by Clicking on it and then press Save Changes.
