Title: How far apart (and when) to plant blackcurrants and gooseberries?
Post by: lewic on November 18, 2010, 10:56:36
I have a gooseberry and a blackcurrant bush at the top of my plot and wanted to get some more. How far apart should I plant them? And when is the best time to do this?

Neither produced any fruit (well the gooseberry did, but they all fell off and/or got eaten by birds) but am ever hopeful for next year!

Thanks

Cath

Any time from now till middle of March when the soil is neither frozen nor waterlogged.
Blackcurrants about 6 feet apart and gooseberries 4. I have Ben Sarek blackcurrants which are a smaller bush so plant them 4 feet apart.

So in your case 4-6 feet depending on what space you have!
