;D
got a loaf one from morrisons last week, filled it with banana cake batter today, it splayed out in the middle. anyone else had any problems before I buy some more :)
I bought a silicone loaf tin last year from Aldi. Used it for a cake competition and had the same problem. It seems the weight of the mixture is too much for the sides so you don't get a nice shaped cake, Didn't get anywhere in the competition but that was probably not the fault of the cake mould :-\
thanks for that, Jeanbean, I might try a round one, won't matter then ;D
Manics one of my silicone cake tins (I shouldn't say tins should I ) ::) has a plastic rigid removable frame that sits around the outside of the tin. Maybe you should look out for one with the frame it might help.:)
Duke :)
never seen one like that, duke..I'll have a look around :)

They were not designed for the northern stodge made in your coal fired kitchen range . They work well with the light fluffy spongecakes we have on the sunny sarf coast ;)
I bought silicone muffin cases last year, individual ones, and they are great. The muffins just drop out them and they are a lovely shape. Got them from Lidl. Of course, my cakes are obviously of the light and fluffy variety. ;D
I had the same problem with a loaf shaped silicon thingie, I have ended up putting it inside a normal loaf tin to bake, seems daft but the joy of just being able to tip the contents out makes it work for me!
::) @ Ace
I'm going to use the loaf one for bread and make round cakes ;D
Does it matter if it bows out slightly in the middle? It still tastes the same. A bit of wire formed into the right shape and slipped up to the lip should work if you're that bothered.
Ginger cake tomorrow I think :P
Another problem with the LIDL loaf tins is that they're rather small. I normally put 800g or more of dough into a large loaf tin, but the LIDL silicone pans comfortably take only around 700g.
