Does anyone on A4A use an oiled filled radiator, we need a small one in the conservatry but i would be interested to know the running cost.

We have one, generally used in a guest's bedroom since we prefer to have the house cool at night, and some people like a warm room.
It seems very economical to use, since the thermostat is more influenced by the temperature of the radiator itself than by the general room temperature, so in normal use it comes on only occasionally to heat the oil up. It's a 2kW heater, and I guess it would be on for a couple of hours per night including initial warm up, so, say, 80p.
But I've never tried it in something like a conservatory, which could get very cold on a winter night. In that case, I guess it would remain on permanently, so a small 1kW heater would consume one unit per hour. Over the course of 24 hours, that could well be getting on for a fiver!
I bought one from Argos last year, it low medium and high settings, 400w, 750w, 1kW respectively with thermostat.
If you are worried about cost, leave it on the lowest setting.

It depends on how big your conservatory is and how well it is insulated as to whether it is suitable.
We bought one last year & used it each morning over the very cold spell to bring the lounge temperature up quickly. It worked very well & I don't think it was very costly. Difficult to compare as we had a new boiler fitted & changed over to a dual fuel deal.
No power is cheap. The 'economical' units usually have a very low output. A thermostat pays for itself.
The only advantage of an oil filled heater is its steady output, but it is slow to react & to heat up initially.
Thank you for your replys. We have decided to have a Dimplex convector heater instead. As Tim ,said no power is cheap anymore so we thought we may as well have some decent heat for our money. ;D.
