Title: Windows 7 Aero Peek
Post by: pntalbot on October 28, 2010, 13:57:19
Had  Windows 7  Installed  2 months and when I first got it, if i clicked on Thumbnails on Taskbar at the bottom, any opened Programs would show on Desktop, but what i get now is `only the description of program opened,  on a narrow strip instead of larger type icon, showing more detail, as example Firefox
How  can I restore it, nothing mentioned in Windows  7 Help under Aero Peek, what am I overlooking.

Rightt click on the taskbar
select properties
Right at the bottom - there is an option - enable Aero Peek on desktop..

Dont forget that when you hover on a thumbnail it pops up a mini window and you have to roll over that to get it to appear on the desktop..

If it is on try deselcting it and applying then reselect and apply..

Have you changed your theme recently..

Aero Peek requires an aero based theme - if you do not have one selected then the option will be greyed out..

go to Control Panel\Appearance and Personalization\Personalization or right click desktop and select personalize..
Then select an aero theme..

Hi  Barriedalenick-- Selected  another Aero  Based  Theme  and  Mini Windows  now  appear  Ok. The  grey tick still appears, but I`m  not  worried about this, as long as Mini Windows appear. Thanks  for excellant  help.
