Title: Fire engine
Post by: macmac on October 23, 2010, 12:17:13
Yesterday evening at 6;30 we were surprised to see a fire engine park outside our house, there were no flashing blue lights but we were concerned never the
less. They called at some elderly neighbours,we didn't impose as they have relatives living next door.
Anyway this morning the OH saw the couple in question and was pleased to see they were both fine (we'd been thinking collapsed behind the bathroom door etc.)the firefighters had in fact turned up to change the batteries in their smoke alarm !
This couple had signed up to some scheme but were a little embarrassed expecting a man in a van. :)

Yes we had that happen.it seems they do it between shouts, they changed a battery in our alarm and fitted a second alarm.
Bet a stop is put to that now.

Don't want to be anti firemen, cos they do a brilliant job putting fires out.
But, think about the cost of running a fire engine, driven to a home to do smoke alarms. Got to be a bit daft. Surely a small car would have been enough.
Before anyone starts making assumptions, I don't vote Tory.

Only if you don't have to buy one specially.......but most services have 'fire cars' don't they? THe local fire station definately has one although it isn't small  ;D
