Title: A XMAS TRADITION
Post by: Palustris on December 24, 2004, 20:37:32
It used to be traditional for members of the Alpine Garden Society to report on plants in Flower on Christmas Day. So, even if it snows, rains, hails, blows a gale, tomorrow I shall go out into the garden and photograph those flowers I can find for your delight, amusement and education.
Go thou and do likewise :-* :) (unless of course you have something better to do).
Eric

Mr. P. are you a member of the Alpine Garden Society, also did you have any part in the A.G.S.'s fantastic show garden at Hampton Court this year.

Hi,
Nothing growing in my garden right now.  Had some delphinium buds but think the recent frosts put an end to their lives.. ;o(

Another couple of months to spring though !
Have a lovely Christmas!!!

The sun was shining so I nipped out for a quick look before lunch, with the camera. Not as much in flower as previous years but still a few things. Wallflowers, primula, cyclamen coum, Lonicera fragrantissima and Clavey's Dwarf, Knautia macedonica, Clematis Niobe,Winter heathers, Viburnum Dawn and tinus, Mahonia, Rosa chinensis, Daphne mezureum, Schizostylis coccinea, 1 dandelion, a few daisies, Jasminium nudiflorum, Winter cherry and probably a few things I cannot remember now.  Photos to follow perhaps. Too cold to stand and look for long though and the hail storm did not help either.
Yes Heritage I am in the A.G.S but sadly was not in the Hampton Court thing.
Ps Forgot about Marigolds and Helleborus foetidus ans SCabiosa caucasica.
These are the photos which worked.

We are 650' up!!

PS Had Eric's photos been on the board when I started this, I would not have proceeded!! We do have some Winter Jasmine - but too sparse to show. And there were roses last week - but we 'dead-headed'.

Lovely photos Eric & Tim :D  I haven't got much to offer - just the remnants of a pyracantha after the blackbirds have been at it - a rather frost beaten cyclamen - a white heather and a hebe :)

I have made a habit of going into the garden on Christmas Day and making a note of all the plants in flower - even if it is just the odd one or two blooms.

I also take a few photos to capture the garden on that day (at least i have done since ive had a digi camera  ;D).

The pics are still on the camera at present, but when I get them on the PC I'll upload a few to show you.

PS Pat: I have pyracantha and blackbirds in my garden - yet my pyracantha (and cotoneaster) still have most of their berries on them. I wonder why?  ???
