Can anyone recommend a veggie steamer. I like them round so I can put plates on top to heat them up. The one I have currently came from Argos and have a sort of cup thing which fits over the element so steam starts heating the veg very quickly. Unfortunately the bottom has fallen out of two plastic baskets so there is now only one left so I need a new one, but most of those available are oval.
I've got a prestige one, s/s with a thermostatic saute pan underneath. It is round & it it's about £48.00 at Amazon. Very easy to clean being s/s.
Looks good does it have a timer?
Sorry, no timer so probably won't be any good if OH is going to use it.
No it is me that needs the timer. When he was in hospital I was worried I would burn down the house so got an electric steamer. OH has an excellent memory.
I have a joke that goes he can remember but cannot tell you what he has remembered while I cannot remember what it is but I can tell you all about it.
We have 2 steamers; both are the type that fits over a saucepan. However, one set has stainless steel handles which get very hot, The other has black handles (maybe silicone) that do not overheat. I am not sure whether you are after the type that go on the hob (Useful because the saucepan can be used on its own and the steamers can usually fit over saucepans that you already have) or the electric type.
There are a selection of both types here:

Digeroo have you considered a microwave steamer. I was given one from Lakeland & I always use it for rice but can be used for veg etc.
Looks like I am being awkward. I have had two lovely electric steamers, they do not last long with our hard water I thought getting a replacement would be easy.
No not awkward at all. You know what your needs are & were asking where you can get it from ;D.
