Title: a great little lad who needs support
Post by: grawrc on October 14, 2010, 11:51:59
I'm feeling a bit iffy about posting this, since we've just had a poll to choose a charity to support and it had a clear winner -Gardening leave.

I didn't hear about this campaign until today, however,  and that's my excuse for posting. I'm not asking for a big A4A drive on this but I know how kind and generous so many of you are and ask that, if you can spare a few pounds or give up some time to fundraise, you give your support to my friends' little boy, Louis.

If you follow the link you'll be able to read and see what a great little lad he is but his parents desperately want to get him the special but very expensive wheelchair that would allow him to have a richer and better life.
Here's the link

and apologies in advance to anyone who feels offended by my asking!!

Thanks for posting that Anne, Louis is such a gorgeous,  happy little boy.  I hope he gets his special chair really soon.

I was going to put the link on my Facebook page (Scarecrows Smith) but it came up with my real name which I don't particularly want on Scarecrow's page.  I'll try to work out a way of doing it.

That figures! My son was suggesting I sign up to Twitter and I said but what name shall I use? Your real name, says he! Is that safe says I?!!!

Thank you very much!

Thank you both. The more people hear about it the better his chances are of raising the money required for the wheelchair!

Just to update you. Louis's fund now stands at £1916  (9% of what the wheelchair costs) plus £198.85 Gift Aid. His Mum tells me they are applying to a whole bunch of charities including whizz-kidz and they have also been visiting local businesses.

My Xmas wish for this young man would be that the medics would identify what's causing the problem and even better that they would know how to fix it.

It sounds like huge quantities of cake and ice cream have been consumed in the process!!

Louis has now raised an incredible

£13,364.96!!

64% of the cost of his wheelchair. And that's not including the gift aid.  Restores your faith in the human race when you see how generous folk are when they are made aware of the needs of others.

I put up my last post on this thread without thinking too much and more to let folk know how the appeal was doing than anything else.

It does occur to me however that loads of A4A folk have contributed to this fund to buy a very hi-tech wheelchair for my friends' little boy.Louis is a wonderful, lively, intelligent boy. Those of you who have contributed, raised money, added him to your FB page, blog or website have helped enormously.

I cannot thank you enough.

Louis is so worth it!

His Mum and Dad are over the moon!! If you are interested you can read what they say here:
http://www.justgiving.com/digitallouis (http://www.justgiving.com/digitallouis)

There is still money coming in which the Turbo Trust will be able to put towards a wheelchair for another child. I must say it has brought a tear to my eye!
