I have all three of these in my garden at home and wish to move them down to the allotment.
Half of the strawbs are in a bed the other half in pots, the comfrey is in the ground and was planted as young plants about 3 months ago, the apple trees are in pots planted in spring.
Is there anything I should know or do before during or after moving these plants....and what is the latest this year I can move them?
Many thanks.
Steve...:)
Once your plants and trees have gone dormant..no leaves/no growth..that would be ideal time for moving/planting them..and latest is..as long as they are dormant..so it depends of the spring how early or late it is. So you are not hurry..and as long as the ground is not frozen there is no reason why you should not be able to transplant them 31.12..that's latest this year.. ;)
With strawberries it might be easier to lift them now and pot them on until planting as digging them up from we soil might damage them..they'll be happy in pots quite a while so it gives you time to get your lottie sorted for them ;)
And don't forget to get some bonemeal when planting..it will encourage new root growth.
Thank you goodlife, thats exactly what I wanted. Also a great tip about the bonemeal, its one I know but I've never remembered to buy any, or of course use it. I must get some next time I'm out in town. THanks again.

and don't use manure when planting the Apple trees. It will just encourage leafy growth. Bonemeal good, dung bad.
And as for your Comfrey. Dig well out from the plant, and deep, unless you want it to grow there again. Its a devil to get rid of. :-\
The slightest bit of root left will grow. Its Ok to re-plant it more or less at any time of the year. Its a hard plant to kill. :)
When you have transplanted it, cut it well down and spread some muck over it. Next spring you will see the young shoots, and away it goes again. ;D
