Had a free pack of these and finally dug them up today. Not a massive crop, but certainly good enough.
They are very difficult to see in the soil as they are so dark, but once scrubbed they are the maot amazing purple.
And more importantly they make wonderful mashed potato - but steam them - I boiled them and they did disintegrate quite a lot.
Aah thats good advice - havent tried them yet but will remember about steaming. Hoping they will be ok roasted too?
Definately agree with the steaming!
I reckon they will make wonderful roast potatoes especially if you cook them for a short while and then shake them to get lovely fluffy edges - perhaps I had better keep them for Christmas Day!!
Agree Blue Danube do make a great mash, steamed no good and roasted not bad but the mash is delicious. Also they are difficult to spot in the ground so I am expecting a number of left overs to sprout up next year.
Any photo's. ;D ;D ;D
are they related to shetland black because they look and cook the same yummy!

they were featured on the one show this evening and apparently make really tasty chips but dont look great
I was gonna make a comment about the one show. The audience couldn't get enough of them - but they did look odd!
