Something strange happened with a photo I sent someone. I sent it as a j.peg but when she got it it was a bmp. How would that happen? I only ever save photos as j.pegs. Is it possible for her to change it back to a j.peg?
Did you email it? I cant think why that would happen other than when they saved it they managed to change the extension from .jpg to .bmp - in which case they should just rename it back.
The point being that a picture file can be in either format (jpeg or bitmap) but regardless of that they can have any file extention (.jpg or .bmp)..
If it really is a bitmap file she can open it in paint (or any photoeditor) and just save it as jpeg file..
Betty,
Get to open it in PAINT and save it in Jpeg format at the bottom of the save window. If she clicks the lower of the two drop downs she will see all the ways you can save the picture and choose Jpeg for this.
Hope this helps.
Thanks Nick and Landimad for your replies. Yes, I sent it with an email. I think she may have accidentally changed it to bmp when she tried to save it.
Thanks a lot, problem sorted!
sending someone a bitmap as an attachment used to be a sneaky way of letting them know how you'd moved up in the world and got broadband, especially when it screwed up their Receive Mail on their 56 Kb modem ;D
Betty I am right up there with you cos I can now change things from bitmap to jpeg. Now to start fixing the picture ;D
Thanks for all your help folks
I haven't tried .jpg to .bmp but i have changed video suffixes. It was very simple, I had a .mov file which would not work with some videos editors, so I renamed them by changing the suffix from .mov to .avi and it worked, the files must be the same apart from the suffix. There's a lot of Kidology going on in the computer industry.
