I failed in my efforts to sow artichoke this year, they all died, and my current plant is getting too old. However I noticed that it has sprouted up some new shoots, so I can clearly see where the offshoots are. Could I divide them up now and plant them? Or will that kill them over the winter? I want to pull out the main parent plant and chop it up into its young offshoots, trimming them back and replanting with lots of organic matter.
I think you may be a bit late in the season now. I'd tend to wait till spring and divide them then.
rats.... Ok thanks for the tip. I will just have to prepare and cover the spaces for them then.
