Title: File Sorting
Post by: Palustris on September 25, 2010, 12:31:50
I know how to sort my Folders in Windows 7 by various criterion, such as Date, Tag, Size etc. BUT is there any way of sorting the files within a Folder? I have a set of pictures in a Folder. They have been transferred from other Folders and at present are listed alphanumerically. I really would like them listed by Date taken, but I do not want to change the sorting order of all the Folders.
TIA

OPen the folder
Right click and view by details..
Now put your mouse over the top of the name field - it should chnage colour
right click
you should have a selection of fields and date taken is one of them
select it
and now you can see the date taken field you can click on it the order by pics by date taken..

One quick tip - if you select all the files you want to rename - highlight them,
Then right click and rename
rename the top one - it will be the only one available..
If I rename it Spain 2010 and hit enter all the other pics will be renamed as well so you end up with
Spain 2010 (1)
Spain 2010 (2)
etc

Handy of you have hundreds to do..
