Title: Herbs - any good book recomendations?
Post by: kt. on September 15, 2010, 17:56:49
At the moment I am looking at 2 books,  one for medicinal and one for culinary purposes but am open to persuasion:

Grow Your Own Drugs - http://www.amazon.co.uk/Grow-Your-Own-Drugs-Remedies/dp/0007307136/ref=pd_bxgy_d_h__img_c

Jekkas Complete Herb Book - http://www.amazon.co.uk/Jekkas-Complete-Herb-Book-Horticultural/dp/1856267806/ref=sr_1_2?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1284569698&sr=1-2

I don't know how to grow them, cultivate them or use them.  Tried before but all failed.  Anybody any ideas on an all rounder book for herbs?

I have Jekka's book which I think is one of the best.....but I am a bit biased as I meet her every time I go to the Hampton Court Flower Show and buy yet another unusual herb from her stall!

I've got " Jekka McVicar's new book of herbs". It was reduced because she's brought out a new one since so you might find it secondhand. It covers medicinal, culinary and other uses and how to grow etc. The only thing I don't like about it is the index- if you look up a common name it says "see (the latin name) which I find annoying, but otherwise it's a really good book.

I think this is it although the picture on the cover on mine is slightly different
