I got millions, would have been nice if one or two of them had turned red, eventually they rotted on the vines.

Did you mean they're named "Millions" or you planted so many you don't remember the name?
Anyway, perhaps it is a pink tom that stays pink when ripe?

Couldn't you have picked them in the green and put them in a dark place in gravel trays wrapped in newspaper?

They would have started to turn then put them on a tray in daylight

Some of these were saved from blighted vines even. You can discard any that develope the signs as they try and ripen.

When i say 'millions' i mean a potato sack full. They stayed green on the vince so long they became very thick skinned and uneatable, the vines withered and they started rotting. But they resolute stayed green. Not one single tomato broke ranks and ripened.
