Title: Brussels stems
Post by: tim on December 19, 2004, 11:23:05
Yes, stems last for weeks in good condition. And you get the lovely tops.

But - at 135-150p for, typically, 25oz sprouts, as against 95-105p for the same amount loose - think twice?

But at least there's no need to do more than wash those on-stem - no waste at all. Whereas, with loose ones, you may have to lose 2-3 leaves. Is this because they are machine stripped? The one below is 3 weeks old. = Tim

PS Why do sprouts grow spirally? One doesn't notice till they are 'tidied up'.

It makes one think-ostensibly the stems should cost less to harvest ???
