Title: Red raspberries question this time... Polka & Glen Ample
Post by: kt. on September 06, 2010, 13:50:03
My entire raspberry collection is to be renewed in November.  As well as 6 yellow raspberry canes, I am looking for early summer and autumn raspberry varieties too.   A lot mention Joan J but i was looking at Glen ample as a summer raspberry and Polka as an everbearing raspberry. Both are spine-free canes, and Polka are supposed to produce more and be larger than Joan J ??? ???   Opinions please

No experience of Joan J, but the canes of Glen Ample that we planted at work this spring have already produced a small crop of very big, fat, sweet raspberries.

Not sure they were supposed to do anything til next year, but obviously no-one told them that!
